(Mumbai) Film Producer Anil Suri Dies of COVID-19
Bollywood producer Anil Suri, who had backed films like Raaj Kumar-Rekha starrer “Karmayogi” and “Raaj Tilak”, passed away due to coronavirus on Thursday. He was 77.
“He was rushed to the top hospitals, Lilavati and Hinduja, but both denied him a bed,” Rajiv claimed.
He was then taken to Advanced Multispeciality Hospital on Wednesday night. He had COVID-19. On Thursday evening, they said something is amiss and he was put on ventilator. He died around 7:00 pm
Last rites of Anil were held on Friday morning at Oshiwara cremation ground with four close family members attending it wearing Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

(Ahmedabad,) Cong MLA Brijesh Merja Also Resigned from Guj Assembly
He is the third legislator of the opposition party to quit this week.
The Assembly secretariat confirmed that Speaker Rajendra Trivedi has accepted the resignation of Merja, who was elected from the Morbi seat.
Before quitting as a legislator, Merja resigned from the primary membership of the Congress and shared his resignation letter with the media.
On June 3, Congress MLAs Akshay Patel and Jitu Chaudhary had handed over their resignations to Trivedi.
In March, when Rajya Sabha polls were announced, five Congress MLAs had resigned.
With every drop in the MLA count, the Congress’s chances of winning the second Rajya Sabha seat are fast diminishing.
The elections for the four seats were supposed to be held on March 26.
They are now scheduled to he held on June 19.
While the Congress has fielded its senior leaders Shaktisinh Gohil and Bharatsinh Solanki, the ruling BJP has nominated Abhay Bhardwaj, Ramilaben Bara and Narhari Amin as its candidates for the polls, in which MLAs will vote.
In the 182-member Assembly, the BJP has 103 MLAs, while the Congress’s count now stands at 65.
While the Bharatiya Tribal Party has two MLAs, the Nationalist Congress Party has one legislator and there is one Independent legislator, Jignesh Mevani.
Ten Assembly seats are vacant – two due to court cases and the rest because of resignations.

Press Council of India (PCI) member B R Gupta has resigned from his post, saying he was unable to work individually or collectively for the media, which is in a “deep crisis”.
He claimed that the PCI was not a wholly representative body for the media.
Referring to salary cuts and job losses, he said media and mediapersons were struggling for social, political and economic justice.

The actor, in his 70s, was brought dead to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani hospital in the afternoon. He must be close to 70 years
The cause of his death is not known
Anwar wrote songs for the 80s and 90s films such as David Dhawan’s Yaraana , Jackie Shroff’s Sapne Saajan Ke , Khiladi , Main Khiladi Tu Anari , Ajay Devgn starrer Vijaypath among others.
His most popular creation is the romantic track – Wada Raha Sanam’ picturised on Akshay and Ayesha Jhulka.
Bollywood has seen some terrible losses during the lockdown with the back-to-back deaths of Irrfan Khan and Rishi Kapoor in April.
Noted singer-composer Wajid Khan passed away recently at the age of 42. He had underlying kidney issues and had tested positive for COVID-19.
Veteran lyricist Yogesh Gaur also died last month.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has given its approval to rename Kolkata Port as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port.
The Board of Trustees of Kolkata Port Trust in its Meeting held on 25th February, 2020 has also passed a Resolution to re-name Kolkata Port as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata considering his multifaceted genius as an eminent jurist, academician, thinker and leader of the masses.
On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of Sesquicentenary Celebrations of Kolkata Port on 12th January, 2020, keeping in view the sentiments of the people of West Bengal, it was announced that Kolkata Port will be re-named after Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, one of the most deserving sons of West Bengal and a front-runner in national integration, dreamer of Bengal’s development, inspiration for industrialisation and ardent votary of one law for one nation.
