[New Delhi] Emigration Fee Will Be Utilized for Benefits Of Emigrants Particularly in Distress
The Government received a sum of Rs.13.71 crore as Emigration Fee in the year 2011-12, Rs.15.90 crore in 2012-13 and Rs.16.54 crore in the year 2013-14
.As the Emigration Fee is deposited in the revenue receipts of Government of India, it is not directly utilized for providing any benefits to the emigrants. However, Govt has created Indian Community Welfare Fund (ICWF) in the Indian Missions for providing benefits to the emigrants particularly those in distress.
The statutory provisions as contained in clause (g) of Sub-rule (1) of Rule 15 of the Emigration Rules, 1983 provide that every application made for emigration clearance under the provisions of Emigration Act, 1983, shall be accompanied by a demand draft of Rs.200/- as fee for Emigration Clearance. The Emigration Fee received by the Protector General of Emigrants is deposited in the Revenue Receipts of the Central Government, under ‘Other Administrative Services’ head as part of consolidated fund of India.
