First Lady Smt. Suvra Mukherjee passed away this morning (August 18, 2015). She left for her heavenly abode at 1051 am.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi And Vice President of India M. Hamid Ansari have Condoled the Passing away of First Lady
PM Said “Pained to know about the passing away of Mrs. Suvra Mukherjee. My condolences to Rashtrapati ji and his family in this hour of grief. Prime Minister said. Mrs. Suvra Mukherjee will be remembered as a lover of art, culture and music. Her warm nature endeared her to everyone she met,”
Mrs Suvra was born in jessore [now in Bangladesh]on 17 Sept1940. and married to Pranab Mukherjee on july 13 1957 She founded “Geetanjali Troupe” to propagate Rabindranath Tagore’s philosophy
Smt. Mukherjee has written two books: Chokher Aloey which is a
personal account of her close interaction with Smt. Indira Gandhi
and Chena Achenai Chin- a travelogue recounting her visit to China.
Smt. Suvra Mukherjee and Shri Pranab Mukherjee have three children
