Former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh alleged that his successor Narendra Modi misled the people by making “lofty promises” which he “failed” to fulfil.
Addressing a mega ‘Bharat Bachao’ (Save India) rally at the Ramlila grounds Ex PM said Modi had promised to take the country’s economy to USD 5 trillion by 2024, double farmers’ income and provide two crore new jobs every year for youths.
In his brief address, Dr Manmohan Singh urged the people to strengthen the Congress party and the hands of Smt Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi in order “to take the country forward in the right direction”.

His house, located at Gupkar Road, has been declared a sub-jail by the union territory’s Home Department.
Eighty-two-year-old Abdullah, who became the first chief minister against whom the stringent public safety law was invoked, has a heart pacemaker implanted and had undergone a kidney transplant a few years ago.
Abdullah was among a host of leaders and activists who were detained on August 5 when the centre abrogated Article 370 and divided the state into two union territories — Ladakh, and Jammu and Kashmir.
Besides Abdullah, his son and former chief minister Omar and ex-CM Mehbooba Mufti, several other leaders have also been under detention since August 5.

Mother Dairy announced an increase in milk prices by up to Rs 3 per litre in Delhi-NCR
The new prices will be effective from Sunday
Prices of both token and poly pack milk have been increased in a range of Rs 2-3 per litre.
The price of bulk vended milk (token milk) has been hiked by Rs 2 to Rs 42 per litre.
In poly packs, full cream milk rate has been raised by Rs 2 to Rs 55 per litre. Price of half litre full cream milk has been hiked to Rs 28 from Rs 27.
Toned milk price has been hiked by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 45 while double-toned milk will now be sold at Rs 39 per litre compared to Rs 36.
Price of cow milk too has been raised by Rs 3 per litre to Rs 47 per litre.
Mother Dairy supplies more than 30 lakh litres of milk per day in the Delhi-NCR market through retail outlets.

The duo was booked under Maharashtra Mediapersons and Media Institutions (Prevention of Violence and Damage or Loss to property) Act, 2017 after a delegation of National Union of Journalists (Jalna) met district superintendent of police S Chaitnaya
The new law carries punishments of up to three years or a fine of up to Rs 50,000

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi on Friday said he would never apologise and instead demanded that Prime Minister Narendra Modi should do so over an old video in which he claimed that Delhi had turned into a “rape capital” under the UPA dispensation.
“As far as their (BJP’s) demand for apologising, I am never going to apologise to them,” Gandhi told reporters outside Parliament.
The Congress leader also clarified his rape statement that triggered protests by the BJP in both Houses of Parliament.
Gandhi said he simply made a point that Modi had been talking about ‘Made in India’, but wherever one sees it is “rape in India” as rapes are happening all over.
He said the main issue today was that Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah had burnt the entire Northeast, adding that BJP was diverting attention by raising his rape remarks.
