(New Delhi) Rajat Sharma Resigned From Post of TopBrass of DDCA
Senior journalist Rajat Sharma on Saturday resigned from the post of president of Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA), citing his inability to continue amidst “various pulls and pressures” within the organisation.
Sharma’s nearly 20-month tenure was a tumultuous one with his public differences with general secretary Vinod Tihara, who enjoys a fair amount of support base in the organisation.
“The cricket administration here is full of pulls and pressures all the time. I feel that vested interests are always actively working against the interest of cricket,” Sharma said in a statement.
Sharma had joined cricket administration after receiving active backing from former finance minister late Arun Jaitley.

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley accused the erstwhile UPA government of not granting scientists permission to build the country’s own anti-satellite missile,
Addressing a press conference at the BJP headquarters ,FM said when India had test-fired the Agni-V missile in April, 2012, then DRDO chief V K Saraswat had said that India could now develop an anti-satellite missile but the government had not given its nod.
Targeting the Congress, he said those patting their own back for India’s strategic missile programme were doing so for wrong reasons.
“If they want to rectify the Balakot (air strike) mistake, it is the opportunity for the opposition to do so and stand in support of our scientists,” he said, referring to the air strike on a terrorist camp in Pakistan after the Pulwama terror attack.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday announced that India had demonstrated anti-satellite missile capability by shooting down a live satellite, describing it as a rare achievement that puts the country in an exclusive club of space super powers.

[New Delhi] Arun Jaitley Resumes Charge as Finance Minister
Arun Jaitley Friday resumed charge as the finance minister after a gap of over a month, which was the second break within a year that he had to take to undergo medical treatment.
Jaitley tweeted on Friday: “Resumed work at the Ministry of Finance today (Friday). Thankful to Shri Piyush Goyal who discharged the responsibility at the MoF diligently & competently.”
Jaitley, 66, who last week returned from the US after undergoing medical treatment, first attended the Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) meeting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had called to discuss the terror attack in south Kashmir’s Pulwama district that killed around 40 CRPF personnel, and then came to North Block – the seat of the finance ministry.
Sources said he underwent a surgery in the US on January 22 for a reported soft tissue cancer in his left leg. He returned to India on February 9 after undergoing skin grafting.

Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Wednesday sent his and his party’s best wishes to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley who has left for the US for a medical check-up following a kidney transplant last year, and wished him a speedy recovery.
“I’m upset to hear Arun Jaitley Ji is not well. We fight him on a daily basis for his ideas. However, I and the Congress party send him our love and best wishes for a speedy recovery. We are with you and your family 100% during this difficult period Mr Jaitley (sic),” Gandhi wrote on Twitter.
Jaitley, 66, who had a kidney transplant operation and follow-up check-ups at AIIMS last year, left for the US on Sunday night for a “regular medical check-up”,
This is Jaitley’s first overseas visit since his kidney ailment was confirmed in April last year.

GST Council doubled the GST exemption limit to
Rs 20 lakh for north eastern states and
Rs 40 lakh for the rest of the country, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley told reporters
The scope of the GST Composition Scheme, under which small traders and businesses pay a small tax based on turnover rather than value addition, was raised to Rs 1.5 crore from Rs 1 crore.
The twin move would give relief to micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs)
The council also allowed Kerala to levy 1 per cent calamity cess on intra-state sales for a period of up to two years.
On including real estate and lottery under the Goods and Services Tax, the council decided for form a seven-member group of ministers after differences of opinion emerged at the meeting

He stepped aside as Finance Minister in mid-May to undergo a kidney transplant,
Jaitley, 65, had stopped attending office at the beginning of April.
Jaitley had undergone a renal transplant operation on May 14. On that day, the charge of his ministry was given to Minister for Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal on an interim basis.
Since his surgery he has been staying in controlled environment as per the doctors advice.
He, however, attended the Rajya Sabha for the election of Deputy Chairman on August 9. This was his first public appearance in over four months.
