Barack Obama in his final Mail+Tweet as the 44th President of the United States today thanked his countrymen, saying serving them was the “honour of his life”.
“It’s been the honour of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and a better man,” Obama said in a tweet before he left the Oval Office to welcome his successor Donald Trump at the White House.
“I won’t stop; I’ll be right there with you as a citizen, inspired by your voices of truth and justice, good humour, and love,”
“As we look forward, I want our first steps to reflect what matters most to you. Share your thoughts with me,” he said asking people to connect with him through his personal webpage
.After Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the official twitter account of the US President would be in the possession of the new President.
Obama’s tweets as President would transit over to @POTUS44.
“It’s been an honour to serve. And to all those fighting for a better future, I’ll see you on the other side. Thanks,” his Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in his final tweet.
The First Lady Michelle Obama also posted a brief video on her tweeter feed “taking it in one last walk through the People’s House” as she is seen walking with the First Dogs.
“For future updates from Mrs Obama, be sure to follow @MichelleObama,” she wrote.
“Being your First Lady has been the honour of a lifetime.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” she said in her final pinned tweet signed as “mo” which stands for Michelle Obama.

USA Observes Take Back Day On 22nd October On This Particular Day Americans Are Permitted to Drop Off Unneeded or Expired Prescription Drugs
Nearly 130 people in the U.S. die every day from a drug overdose, and most of those involve prescription opioids or heroin. The majority of people of people who misuse prescription drugs report that they obtained the drugs from family or friends.
But this weekend one can do something about it and help protect own family and friends.
This Saturday, October 22, is National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day, organized by the Drug Enforcement Administration
More than 6.4 million pounds of medication have been collected at past Take-Back Days.
There will more than 5,000 collection sites nationwide, and thousands of state, local, and tribal law enforcement officers will join with parents and community leaders to safely, conveniently, and responsibly dispose of expired or unwanted prescription drugs.
The Office of National Drug Control Policy has been working with Federal agencies and communities to make it easier for communities to set up permanent disposal programs locally. And following the President’s call to action last year, private organizations have taken steps to make it more convenient to safely dispose of unneeded drugs throughout the year.
President Obama has made clear that addressing the prescription opioid and heroin epidemic is a priority for his Administration. Take-Back Day is a critical part of the Administration’s efforts to address the opioid epidemic.

A Delhi court today took cognisance of a complaint against Prime Minister Narendra Modi for allegedly “insulting” the national flag last year on the international yoga day and during his visit to United States.
“I take cognisance of the complaint. Fix the matter for May 9,” Metropolitan Magistrate Snigdha Sarvaria said while ordering recording of pre-summoning evidence on that day.
The complainant Ashish Sharma, who has sought direction to the police to file an FIR against Modi, has claimed that he had committed an offence under the provisions of Prevention of Insults to National Honour Act, 1971 and has also violated the Flag Code of India.
He claimed that Modi had insulted the national flag not once but several times. He alleged that the PM had “disrespected” national flag at the event of Yoga Day at the India Gate on the international yoga day by using it as a handkerchief.
“He (Modi) was again careless at the time of handing over the national flag to Barack Obama, President, USA, when he signed over the national flag which is against National Flag Code, 2002,”
