Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday said that Smart phones had already been ordered from China, which unfortunately had to delay release of the order due to the unprecedented Coronavirus problem, the Chief Minister told the House during his speech.
The issue, he said, had been rightly raised by some of the members since the promise of smart phones was part of his government’s election manifesto. His government had already notified the scheme and procurement of the phones had only been delayed due to the health emergency that had led to a shutdown in China, as a result of which the consignment of phones has not been received.

Members of the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) accused the Congress-led government of having “completely failed” in giving jobs to the unemployed youth in the last three years.
“Unemployed youths are seeking replies from Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for not fulfilling promise of giving employment to youth,” claimed SAD leader Parambans Singh Romana ,adding that the government’s ‘Ghar Ghar Rozgar Yojana’ has failed.
Protesting Akalis, led by Bikram Singh Majithia and Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, also brought some unemployed youth along with them who were showing their degrees and claiming that they had not got any jobs yet.
The members of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by leader of opposition Harpal Singh Cheema, took on the Congress-led government on the issue of alleged mafias in the state.
They alleged that the sand, liquor and transport mafias still continued in the state under the Congress-led regime.
The members of the opposition shouted slogans against the state government.

Rebel Akali leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa on Sunday accused the Badal family of being “hand in glove” with Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh, saying their business interests “remained unaffected” despite the Congress being in power in the state.
Dhindsa appeared to to be responding to the allegations by Akali Dal leaders that he and his son Parminder Singh Dhindsa were being used as “pawns” by the CM and Congress to weaken the SAD.
The Dhindsas were expelled by the Akali Dal for alleged anti-party activities on February 3.
On Sunday, they held a massive “Save Punjab, Save Panth” rally on their home turf in Sangrur.

The AAP on Thursday demanded that the Congress led government in Punjab call a special session of the Assembly to adopt a resolution against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act.
The main opposition party in the state also urged Chief Minister Amarinder Singh to hold an all-party meeting to discuss the issue.
AAP legislator and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema said the chief minister should immediately convene an all-party meeting and also decide upon calling a special session of Vidhan Sabha in order to adopt a resolution against the CAA as done by the Kerala Assembly.

Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar accused Punjab of “misleading” on the Sutlej-Yamuna link canal despite the apex court ruling in their favour.
He said this during a review meeting on the canal issue.
The chief minister was informed that chief secretaries of both states would be meeting the central water secretary in New Delhi on December 6 over the issue.
Khattar also slammed the neighbouring state on stubble burning.
“Punjab is misleading the country by targeting Haryana on the issue of stubble burning and holding the state responsible for increasing pollution,” he said.
In September 2019, the Supreme Court had given four months to Punjab, Haryana and the Centre to find an amicable solution to the SYL canal issue.
Haryana has been seeking the completion of the canal to get its share of 3.5 million acre feet of river waters.
