Barack Obama in his final Mail+Tweet as the 44th President of the United States today thanked his countrymen, saying serving them was the “honour of his life”.
“It’s been the honour of my life to serve you. You made me a better leader and a better man,” Obama said in a tweet before he left the Oval Office to welcome his successor Donald Trump at the White House.
“I won’t stop; I’ll be right there with you as a citizen, inspired by your voices of truth and justice, good humour, and love,”
“As we look forward, I want our first steps to reflect what matters most to you. Share your thoughts with me,” he said asking people to connect with him through his personal webpage
.After Trump is sworn in as the 45th President of the United States, the official twitter account of the US President would be in the possession of the new President.
Obama’s tweets as President would transit over to @POTUS44.
“It’s been an honour to serve. And to all those fighting for a better future, I’ll see you on the other side. Thanks,” his Press Secretary Josh Earnest said in his final tweet.
The First Lady Michelle Obama also posted a brief video on her tweeter feed “taking it in one last walk through the People’s House” as she is seen walking with the First Dogs.
“For future updates from Mrs Obama, be sure to follow @MichelleObama,” she wrote.
“Being your First Lady has been the honour of a lifetime.
From the bottom of my heart, thank you,” she said in her final pinned tweet signed as “mo” which stands for Michelle Obama.

The First Lady will meet with, and take questions from, children of Executive Office employees, and young people from Big Brothers Big Sisters of America, SchoolTalk, and the D.C. Child and Family Services Agency.
The White House is also encouraging other employers, including federal agencies, to expand their events by opening their doors to local youth participants, including foster youth, youth with disabilities, and children who may not have a parent with a job that allows them to bring their children to work. This is a joint effort between the White House Council on Women and Girls and My Brother’s Keeper Initiative to provide additional work-based learning opportunities to young people across the country

First Lady Michelle Obama has asserted that America is a “nation of immigrants” and diversity will always be its greatest strength.
Michelle said during Nowruz celebrations at the White House yesterday.
“We think America is strongest when we recognize our many traditions, when we celebrate our diversity, and when we lift each other up,”
“In times like these, when we think all– that’s more important than ever before, right now and today with what’s going on.
“Right now, when we’re hearing so much disturbing and hateful rhetoric, it is so important to remember that our diversity has been – and will always be – our greatest source of strength and pride here in the United States,” she said.
“We are a nation of immigrants. And we should cherish the talent and energy and the beautiful traditions and cultures that come with that heritage, not just today but every day,” she said.
In her remarks, she underscored the number of festivals of various cultures now White House has been celebrating.
“I’m proud that here at the White House, we host special events to mark the holidays but we celebrate
St Patrick’s Day,
Diwali,
Cinco de Mayo. And with your help, today, we’re celebrating
Nowruz, which is one of our newest White House traditions,” Michelle said.
Nowruz, she said, is a time to visit loved ones. It’s a time to reflect on the past year, and to renew hopes for the New Year to come.
Nowruz is a traditional Iranian festival of spring and considered as the beginning of the New Year among Iranians.

The Obama administration has partnered with the Peace Corps to take on the challenge of keeping girls in school. Even in 2015, more than 62 million girls across the globe are not receiving an education, and even more are fighting to stay there. In many countries around the world, a girl risks dangerous walks to school, pressure to give up her education, and a lack of support for the resources she needs in her schooling
The Peace Corps is a organization that has been championing education for more than fifty years, and is already on the ground in many of the countries. The Peace Corps will work with the First Lady’s Office to train thousands of volunteers and community leaders and will collaborate with local leaders to identify tailored-to-fit solutions.
In conjunction with the First Lady, the Peace Corps is going to use its already existing volunteer base in 11 countries – Albania, Benin, Burkina Faso, Cambodia, Georgia, Ghana, Moldova, Mongolia, Mozambique, Togo, and Uganda

The initiative will focus on things like financial aid+ summer learning opportunities+ and college visits, to help more students get into college and go all the way
First Lady Michelle Obama, On January 16, 2014 Has said “Education is the key to success for so many kids. And my goal specifically is to reach out directly to young people and encourage them to take charge of their futures and complete an education beyond high school.”
In today’s economy, a high school diploma just isn’t enough. The First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Joe Biden joined the 101st Airborne Division at a comprehensive Veterans Jobs Summit and Career Forum to announce that more than 540,000 veterans and military spouses have been hired through Joining Forces.
The First Lady and Dr. Biden Ensures That The commitment to service members and their families does not end when their service does, which is why they launched Joining Forces three years ago this month.
Since then, companies who have made commitments to Joining Forces have hired over half a million (540,000) veterans and military spouses. Commitments from America’s biggest firms like UPS, who announced a doubling of their commitment to 50,000 new hires and Xerox who will has committed to hire 10,000 veterans and spouses over the next five years.
