[New Delhi] SC,Refusing To Strike Down 66A Says “offensive to a person, may not be offensive to others”.SC Refusing To Strike Down 66A Of IT Act Said ,Section 66A of IT Act clearly affects Right to Freedom of Speech and Expression enshrined under Constitution.SC Said Public’s right to know is directly affected by Section 66 A of Information Technology Act.
SC strikes down one of the provisions of the IT Act which gives power to arrest a person for posting offensive contents on web.
Supreme Court ,Today,refused to strike down two other provisions of the IT Act that provide blocking of sites.
SC Commented “Govts come and go but section 66A will remain forever,
SC terms the provision as vague and says “what may be offensive to a person, may not be offensive to others”.
