The previous Devendra Fadnavis-led state government proposed a dedicated sports university in Karodi area on the outskirts of Aurangabad city in Marathwada region.
Now BJP MLA Atul Save has claimed that the Maharashtra government has decided to shift the proposed sports university from Aurangabad to Pune, and warned of a protest if the decision is not revoked.
Land acquisition for it has also been completed and 130 acre land has been handed over to the agencies concerned, Save told reporters on Wednesday.
Hockey Maharashtra vice president Pankaj Bharsakhle said shifting this proposed university out of Aurangabad will hamper the growth of Marathwada in the field of sports.
The land and initial funds for the project have already been allotted by the previous government

Editorial in Shiv Sena mouthpiece ‘Saamana’ also said it would have been good if there was a “shadow governor” for the swearing-in of the shadow cabinet.
To keep an eye on the state government, a party which has one MLA in the Assembly has formed a ‘shadow cabinet’, it said without naming the Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS).
The “post of chief minister” in the shadow cabinet is vacant, it said while taunting the MNS.

AIMIM chief Imtiyaz Jaleel on Monday said that his party would approach court if the state government spends taxpayers’ money on constructing the memorials of Bal Thackeray and Gopinath Munde in Aurangabad.
Addressing reporters, Jaleel said the money for the memorials of the late Shiv Sena founder and the late BJP stalwart be raised from those leaders who have “prospered in their names”.
He alleged that an amount of Rs 100 crore is being spend on the construction of the memorials in Aurangabad.
“This money should be utilised for the welfare of children of farmers who had committed suicide or for repairing Zilla Parishad schools,” he said.
“If these memorials are constructed from the state government’s funds, we will move court,” Jaleel said.

The film based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted lieutenant Tanaji Malusare, who played a pivotal role in capturing the Kondana fort, now known as Sinhagad Fort located near Pune, has grossed over Rs 150 crore since it its release on January
Last week, the chief minister himself Uddhav Thackeray brought up the topic about the film in the Cabinet.
The film, starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol, has been directed by Om Raut.

BJP leader Sudhir Mungantiwar on Wednesday expressed concern over the attack on Nagpur Mayor Sandip Joshi and said this indicated the Uddhav Thackeray-led government’s failure to maintain law and order in the state.
Joshi had a narrow escape when two motorcycle-borne persons fired at his car on Wardha Road here around 11.59 pm on Tuesday when he was returning after celebrating his wedding anniversary, police said.

“The BJP is not demanding it, but we are pointing out their own demands which were made when these parties (NCP and Congress) were in the opposition,” the former chief minister said.
