J Satyanarayana appointed as part-time Chairman of UIDAI
Information Technology, Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad administered the oath of Office and Secrecy to J Satyanarayana, IAS retd. (1977, AP cadre) who has been appointed part-time Chairman of the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).
The minister also administered the oath to Rajesh Jain and Dr. Anand Deshpande who have been appointed as part-time members of UIDAI.
Satyanarayana has close to four decades of experience in varied areas of governance and served as the Secretary, Department of Electronics and Information Technology from 2012 to 2014 before superannuation.
He has been instrumental in training the political leaders & policy makers on the concepts and principles of e-Governance.
Rajesh Jain, Founder and Managing Director of netCORE Solutions is s established entrepreneurs in the IT space.
An electrical engineer from IIT Bombay,
Dr. Anand Deshpande, Founder, Chairman and Managing Director of Persistent Systems, is a B. Tech. (Hons.) in Computer Science and Engineering from the IIT, Kharagpur, and a M.S. and Ph.D. in Computer Science from Indiana University, Bloomington, Indiana, USA.
He has been the driving force in growing Persistent Systems from its inception in 1990, to the publicly-traded global Company it is today

Recently, in the last few days reports have indicated that a Digital India Brand Ambassador has been appointed.
Ministry of Communications & Information Technology has stated that As part of the Digital India week (July 1-7, 2015) following four Brand Ambassadors were nominated for a period of one year to propagate the product and applications being launched by the department under Digital India Programme:
[1]Shri Satwat Jagwani, All India IIT-JEE —Advanced Topper -2015 (Student)
[2]Ms. Krati Tiwari, All India IIT-JEE —Advanced Girl Topper -2015 (Student)
[3]Mr Ankit Fadia, Author & Ethical Hacker
[4]Shri Pranav Mistry, Samsung USA (Computer Scientist/ Author of 6th Sense)
It is Clarified that Thereafter, no other person has been appointed as Brand Ambassador for Digital India.
The services of these Brand Ambassadors will be used, as and when required for generating mass awareness for the programme.

सूचना तंत्र की रीड कहे जाने वाले भारतीय डाक विभाग में “मनी ऑर्डर सेवा”बंद नही है

[नई दिल्ली]भारतीय सूचना तंत्र की रीड कहे जाने वाले पारम्परिक “भारतीय डाक” की स्थिति सुधारने के लिए मौजूदा सरकार के दावों पर प्रश्न चिन्ह लगने लगे है सम्ब्वत इसी अप्रिय स्थिति से फौरी तौर पर निबटने के लिए मनी ऑर्डर सेवा को और अधिक प्रभावी बनाये जाने की घोषणा कर दी गई है |गौरतलब है कि आज कल डाक विभाग में पोस्टल ओर्डेर+लफाफे+टिकेट्स के बंदर बाँट की शिकायते तो आती रही हैं|मात्र रजिस्ट्री करवाने के लिए पोस्ट आफिसों में लम्बी कतारें भी देखी जा सकती है | आजकल डाकखानों में मनी ऑर्डर सेवा बंद किये जाने की भी खबरें आ रही हैं
इसीको लेकर डाक विभाग ने इन रिपोर्टों का खंडन किया है कि विभाग की मनी ऑर्डर सेवा बंद कर दी गई है। संचार एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय के अनुसार मनी ऑर्डर सेवा समान सेवा शुल्क पर आम आदमी के लिए निरंतर उपलब्ध है और दिए गए पते पर घर-घर जाकर धन के वितरण की वैसी ही सेवा कायम है। एक स्पष्टीकरण में विभाग ने बताया कि बुकिंग और वितरण डाकघरों के बीच इलैक्ट्रोनिक विधि से धनांतरण के बारे में विवरण जारी करके इस सेवा को और भी अधिक विश्वसनीय और तीव्र बनाया गया है। इस प्रकार दिए गए पते पर धन तीव्र गति से पहुंचता है। सेवा की प्रकृति समान बनी हुई है और इसे इलैक्ट्रोनिक मनी ऑर्डर अथवा ईएमओ के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
डाक विभाग के पास एक अन्य सेवा भी है, जिसके अधीन तत्काल धनांतरण सेवा उपलब्ध कराई जाती है। इसे इंस्टेंट मनी ऑर्डर (आईएमओ) कहा जाता है। इसके तहत डाकघरों के माध्यम से प्राप्तकर्ता नकद राशि प्राप्त कर सकते हैं।

The Minister for Communications & Information Technology, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad along with the Minister for Urban Development & Parliamentary Affairs Shri Venkaiah Naidu and the Minister for Rural Development Shri Chaudhary Birender Singh released Commemorative Postage stamps on the theme of Swachh Bharat to mark the Martyrdom Day of Mahatma Gandhi today..
Shri Prasad speaking on the occasion said the Government intends to make cleanliness a part culture of this country under the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi . He pointed out that the design for the stamps were selected through a competition among the children on the theme. Shri Naidu also appreciating the idea said that if the practice of cleanliness catches with our children, it would spread as a mass movement in the country. He hoped that Swachhatha will become a Jan Andholan.
Shri Birender Singh said the release of the stamps on the Martyrdom Day on this subject of cleanliness, which is very close to the heart of the Father of the Nation, is an apt tribute to him.
The Department of Posts, at a function this morning issued a set of these three Commemorative Postage Stamps on the theme of Swachh Bharat.
Swachh Bharat Mission was launched by the Prime Minister on the 2nd October, 2014 on the occasion of Birth Anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. This all encompassing Mission covering our surroundings seeks to achieve “Clean India” and aims to provide access to toilets to all households in the country, and making adequate arrangements for Solid and Liquid Waste Management.
Release of a set of three stamps and a miniature sheet on the theme Swachh Bharat is a part of this effort to achieve the vision of Clean and Healthy India.

India and USA Inks Cooperation in Information&Communications Technology

[New Delhi]India and USA Inks Cooperation in Information&Communications Technology
India and United States have signed a Joint Declaration of Intent for cooperation in the field of Information & Communications Technology and Electronics (ICTE).
The Joint Declaration was signed by the Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT Sh RS Sharma, and the US Ambassador to India Sh Richard Verma, at a ceremony held in New Delhi this evening.
Speaking to news persons, the Secretary, Department of Electronics and IT said that this is likely increase partnership for the ‘Digital India’ programme, electronic manufacturing, cyber security and several other such related fields between two countries.
The US ambassador expressing happiness hoped that this declaration before the arrival of the US president on Sunday would further strengthen cooperation between industries of both the countries in the sector. Shri Ram Sevak Sharma said that at the Indo US Joint working Group meeting on ICT held at Washington last week several US companies has expressed interest for their participation in India.
This Joint Declaration of intent made for a period of next five years would help in strengthening industrial, technological, research & innovation and economic cooperation between India and U.S. in the ICTE sector. It would also lead to US companies exploring opportunities for collaboration in India’s ambitious Digital India programme, Electronics manufacturing and Human Resource Development, through cooperation among private and public entities in a focused manner under the umbrella of the ongoing India-US ICT Dialogue.
On this occasion, reference was made to the deliberations at India US ICT Working Group meeting held in Washington, D.C., during January 14-15, 2015. It was agreed at this meeting to continue to explore the opportunities for collaboration on implementing India’s ambitious Digital India initiative, with the goal of enhancing digital infrastructure, deploying e-governance and e-services, and expanding the diffusion and use of ICT as a tool to expand economic opportunities, boost productivity, create jobs, and empower citizens. Besides, broad agreement was also reached on the importance of policies that promote innovation in the ICT sector, facilitate the flow of data across borders, and foster the global and open nature of the Internet as a platform for economic growth.
Later speaking to news persons Sh R S Sharma said that VISA issue relating to Indian IT professionals should be treated as an issue relating to trade in services and not as an immigration issue.

Samsung May Set up a Battery Manufacturing Plant in India

[New Delhi] Samsung is studying the feasibility of setting up a manufacturing plant in India
A delegation of senior executives of Samsung SDI led by the President and CEO of Samsung SDI Shri Sangjin Park met the Minister for Communications and Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad today.
The CEO had met the Minister last month at Seoul where the Minister had shared with him the Digital India vision of the Prime Minister, the great potential that India has in the field of electronic manufacturing and the changed business environment in India.
The Minister and CEO discussed the great opportunity Indian markets offer for companies like Samsung.
The Minister shared with the CEO that Indian consumers have become quality conscious and Samsung which is globally known for its quality can tap this growing quest for quality products among consumers.
This coupled with the conducive business environment created by this government and the ambitious Digital India program makes a case for Samsung to expand its manufacturing capacities in India.
. Samsung SDI, which is world’s leading company in energy storage solutions and offers diverse products ranging from mobile phone batteries+automotive batteries + other smart energy storage solutions, is very optimistic about Indian markets and the positive changes in business environment.

The Department of Posts, Ministry of Communications & IT has brought out a Commemorative Postage Stamp on Liver Transplantation in India.
The Commemorative Postage stamp on Liver Transplantation in India was released today by the Minister for Communications &IT and Law &Justice, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad in the presence of Member Postal Service Board, Shri S.K.Sinha and Chairman, Apollo Hospitals Group Dr. Prathap.C.Reddy who pioneered liver transplantation in India.Sanjay Kandaswamy, the patient who undergone first successful liver transplantation in India in 1998 was also present on the occasion and minister was delighted to see him hale and hearty.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister spoke about release of a commemorative postage stamp as mission statement of recognition of extraordinary initiatives by extraordinary people endowed with extraordinary talent.

पोर्टल का उद्देश्‍य सरकारी अधि‍कारि‍यों और एजेंसिंयों द्वारा अपने सहयोगि‍यों और मि‍त्रों को शुभकामनाएं भेजने के एक समकालि‍क और पर्यावरण सहायक तरीके को प्रोत्‍साहि‍त करना है। इस पोर्टल से उपभोक्‍ता इस अवसर पर उपलब्‍ध अनेक नमूनों में से अपनी पसंद के ग्रीटिंग चुनकर भेज सकते हैं।

इसका एक नकारात्मक पहलू भी है यह वन साइडेड ग्रीटिंग हैं अर्थार्त नो रिप्लाई के टैग के भेजे जा रहे हैं इनके उत्तर में मेल प्राप्त करता धन्यवाद भी रिटर्न नहीं दे सकता |भाजपा के अपने छोटे बढे नेता इस पोर्टल का निशुल्क उपयोग करने के बजाय बढे बढे महंगे महंगे होर्डिंग्स लगवा कर बधाई सन्देश दे रहे हैं| उद्घाटन कर्ता मंत्री के मंत्रालय का ऐसा कोई प्रयास दृष्टिगोचर नहीं हुआ

India Demands Democratisation of Global Affairs of Telecommunications+Internet Governance
19th ITU Plenipotentiary Conference opened its doors to over 3,000 delegates and almost 600 local and international media today in one of the world’s most wired cities, with Host Country the Republic of Korea promising the most high-tech conference facilities ever offered at a UN treaty-making event.

Indian Delegation to the ITU’s Conference Lead by Communications and Information Technology Minister Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad called for Democratisation of Global Affairs of Telecommunications and Internet Governance
India wants democratisation and broad-basing of the global affairs of telecommunications and internet governance.
This was the main message taken forward by Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad while he led the Indian delegation at the inaugural of the International Telecommunications Union (ITU) Conference at Busan in South Korea.
The Conference was inaugurated by the President of Republic Of South KoreaITU.
India’s point is that ITU should take leadership and partner with UN and other International/Regional organizations in executing the Information and Communication Technology projects and programs in developing countries. India also wants the ITU to be the supervisory authority of Space Assets. India expressed its desire that ITU should play a more active role in the global Internet governance as envisaged during the World Summit on Information Society (WSIS).
The Indian delegation has been participating in The Plenipotentiary Conference, which is the top policy-making body of the 193 member strong International Telecommunications Union. It meets once in every four years. India has also been pitching for a re-election into the ITU Council.
During the visit, the Minister also met the President and the CEO of Samsung SDI Co. Ltd. Mr. Sang Jin Park in Seoul. The Minister shared the ideas of ‘Digital India’ and the initiative of ‘Make In India’, of the present Indian government with the CEO. The CEO was curious about the changed business environment in India and he informed the Minister about his proposed visit to India next month. The minister also met various other business leaders in the fields of electronics, communication and Information technology.

In future to save nature and money e-Greetings Portal of NIC Is Launched Today
Minister for Communications and Information Technology Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad today launched the “e-Greetings Portal” in the presence of Shri R.S. Sharma, Secretary Department of Electronics The e-Greetings portal has been developed by NIC as part of the the “Digital India” initiative of the Government of India. The current catalog of designs has been specifically designed for sending e-Greetings for the Independence Day,
Inaugurating the portal, Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad exhorted all Government employees to send e-Greetings in future to save nature and money.. He said “e-Greetings” on August 15 being created with the larger cooperation of the people of India through crowd sourcing is a step in the right direction.
The objective of the portal is to promote a contemporary and eco-friendly method of sending Greetings by Government officials and agencies to colleagues and friends.
