This New Credit Card of IRCTC and SBI Card was by Piyush Goyal,Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister of Railways and Commerce & Industry, Piyush Goyal said “We are strongly committed in making Railways ‘Aatma Nirbhar’ in all the fields with ‘Make In India’ initiatives as envisaged by Hon’ble Prime Minister. The IRCTC SBI co-branded card working on RuPay Platform is one of the many “Make In India” activities undertaken by the Railways”
Designed to reward frequent railway travellers, the new co-branded credit card offers the rail passengers maximum savings proposition on their travel together with exclusive benefits on retail, dining and entertainment as well as transaction fee waivers.

The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi in the interactive session Bharat Ki Baat Sabke Saath has lauded the efforts of Senior Citizens of India for giving up subsidy for travel in Indian Railways. While interacting at the event in London, PM recounted his days spent at Railway Station & the enriching experience he gathered there from. PM also noted the remarkable progress made by Indian Railways in Infrastructure creation.
Indian Railways have registered a significant rise in the number of senior citizens who have chosen to give up the subsidy. From 15th August, 2016 to 31st March, 2018 about 40 lakh esteemed senior citizens have voluntarily given up concessions resulting in benefit of Rs. 77 crore savings to Railways from this single initiative. Option for giving up of concession in passenger fare for senior citizens to the extent of 100% was already available
At present, male senior citizens get 40 per cent while women get 50 per cent concession on the total fare.

Ashwani Kumar Kapoor has taken over as the New Member Electrical, Railway Board and ex-officio Secretary to the Government of India.
Prior to this, he was General Manager, Metro Railway Kolkata.
Shri Kapoor, an officer of 1978 Batch of Indian Railway Service of Electrical Engineers (IRSEE).
He is having over 35 years of multifarious experience in core electrical engineering, maintenance of rolling stock,
He is a fellow member of Institution of Engineers (India), Life Member of Institution of Railway Electrical Engineers (IREE).

[New Delhi]Mohd.Jamshed Takes Charge as New Member Traffic, Railway Board
Mr. Mohd.Jamshed has taken over as the new Member Traffic, Railway Board. Prior to this, he was General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway.
During his long career, Mr. Mohd. Jamshed has held several important assignments in the Ministry of Railways and on Northern, Eastern and Central Railways including- Additional Member Railway Board, Chief Operations Manager, Chief Vigilance Officer, Chief Safety Officer, Divisional Railway Manager, and Executive Director Railway Board.
Mr Jamshed during his previous posting as Additional Member Railway Board, was Chairman of the Committee on Traffic Optimisation set up by Minister for Railways Shri Suresh Prabhu. He was Member of the Advisory Council for developing Indian Railway’s IT Vision and also co-ordinated Indian Railways Freight and Passenger outreach initiatives. He was also instrumental in Paperless Mobile Based Ticketing systems, launched by Indian Railways recently.
In addition, Mr Jamshed has also authored the SAARC Regional Multimodal Transport Study adopted by SAARC for regional connectivity initiatives. Trained in HEC Paris and GM Institute Chicago, Mr Jamshed has also led Indian Railway delegations to Japan, Sri Lanka, and Tehran. He was also associated with United Nations Economic and Social Council for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP)’s Trans Asian Railway project during his tenure as Executive Director PP in Railway Board.
A gold medalist from Allahabad University, Mr Jamshed belongs to the1980 batch of Indian Railway Traffic Service (IRTS).
He served as the General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway from 24th October 2015 to 14th December, 2015.
Apart From This The ,Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the appointment of Shri A.K. Jain, IRS (IT) (1978), Member, Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) as Chairman, CBDT vice Ms. Anita Kapur, IRS (IT) (1978).

[New Delhi] Hard Days For Train Commuters From 1st June
Fares for first class and AC class in passenger trains besides freight charges will be increased by 0.5 per cent from June 1 as new service tax will come into effect.
“Currently, 3.708 % service tax is levied on train fares for AC Class, First Class and freight. This will go up to 4.2 % from June which means the rise is only 0.5 %,”
While the increase in passenger fare is applicable on AC and First Class only, service tax will be levied on all goods transported by Railways.
The official claimed this hike a marginal hike and it is being done as per the General Budget proposals

Indian Railways Defeated Uttar Pradesh In Finals @5-3 And Lifted Gold in Indian Senior Men National Hockey Championship
Indian Railway Hockey Team (Men) participated in 5th Hockey India Senior Men National Hockey Championship held at Pune from 16th to 29th April 2015 and won Gold Medal by beating Uttar Pradesh in final with a score of 5-3.
Indian Railway Hockey Team (Men) had won Gold Medal on last occasion in the year 1997 by beating Tamilnadu.
