“Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has made event management the corner stone of his foreign policy.
He peacocks around the globe, gets to meet world leaders, and attends grand events.
But, no one seems to have informed our ‘all knowing’ Prime Minister that diplomacy and geopolitics is more than simply organizing events and being feted by world leaders. It is about getting favorable terms for India and Indians.
The latest casualty of Shri Modi’s desire to massage his ego has been the humiliation at the NSG meet, where the issue of India’s membership wasn’t even taken up due to the political machinations of China and Pakistan.
Our ill-fated attempt to join the NSG highlights the ignorance of Shri Modi.
The 2008 NSG waiver, orchestrated by UPA Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, ensured that India could engage in nuclear commerce with world powers. Shri Modi’s failure at the NSG has hurt India globally
