[New Delhi]Indian P M Discussed Iraq+Afgan Problems With U S Secy of Defence Chuck Hagel
The visiting United States Secretary of Defence Chuck Hagel called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today.
The Prime Minister welcomed the sustained high-level engagement by the United States with the new Government in India.
The Prime Minister expressed concern about the deteriorating situation in Iraq and its potential implications for the region, where India has vital stakes.
Secretary Hagel briefed the Prime Minister on the announcements by President Obama on the steps that the United States plans to take to deal with the situation.
Shri Modi also noted that an early completion of the election process in Afghanistan, which enjoys the confidence of the people of Afghanistan, and smooth transition of power is essential for sustaining progress towards peace, stability, democracy and development in Afghanistan.
They also discussed their shared interest in peace and stability in wider Asia Pacific region.
The Prime Minister underlined the importance of defence relations in the overall strategic partnership between the two countries and indicated his desire to see further progress in defence relations, including in defence manufacturing in India, technology transfer in the area of defence, exercises and higher studies in the field of defence.
Shri Narendra Modi reiterated that he looked forward to his visit to the United States not just as an occasion to think in terms of what we can do for each other, but also as an opportunity to see how the world`s oldest democracy and the world`s largest democracy can build a partnership for peace, stability and prosperity in the world.

[New Delhi]World’s Two Largest Democracies Shakes Hands For New Relationship Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi And U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry Shakes Hands For New Course in the Relationship.
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry and Secretary of Commerce Penny Pritzker called on Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi today. In an hour-long meeting, the two visiting Secretaries briefed Prime Minister on the India-U.S. Strategic Dialogue;
conveyed that President Obama attached great priority to relations with India, both for bilateral cooperation and global partnership, and looks forward to a productive and fruitful Summit in September in Washington to set an ambitious new agenda to chart a new course in the relationship.
Indian Prime Minister said that there was broad convergence of views and interests between the two countries. He outlined his vision for India and for the partnership between the world’s two largest democracies in addressing global challenges, promoting peace and stability in the world and supporting India’s own economic transformation. Prime Minister highlighted the opportunities for partnership in trade, investment, clean energy, innovation, education, skill development, agro-processing, youth empowerment, among others.
Prime Minister emphasized the need for developed countries to understand the challenges of poverty in developing countries and their governments’ responsibilities in addressing them, when discussions take place in international forums.
Prime Minister discussed the regional situation, including India’s engagement in Asia Pacific region; commitment to bring South Asia together in a united effort to promote regional economic development; India’s commitment to continue its support to Afghanistan; and, the need to confront terrorism on the principles of “zero tolerance” for terrorism and eschewing a selective approach to terrorism.
P M thanked Secretary Kerry and Secretary Pritzker for visiting India, .
External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj, Principal Secretary Nripendra Misra, National Security Adviser Ajit Doval, and Foreign Secretary Sujatha Singh and other officials were present at the meeting.

प्रधानमंत्री नरेन्द्र मोदी ने पांच सदस्यीय ब्रिक्स देशों के नेताओं से कहा कि वे अभी जो कुछ चुनेंगे वह अंतत: विश्व का भविष्य तय करेगा।[१] ब्राजील[२]रूस[३]चीन[४]भारत[५]दक्षिण अफ्रीका के शिखर सम्मलेन को संबोधित करते हुए श्री मोदी ने कहा कि अफगानिस्तान से अफ्रीका तक का क्षेत्र अशांति और संघर्ष के दौर से गुजर रहा है |सीरिया+पश्चिम एशिया + खाड़ी देश+इस्राईल+फिलिस्तीन आदि जिन देशों को यह सब झेलना पड रहा है उनकी दशा पर मूक दर्शक बने रहने के गंभीर परिणाम होंगे।इनका असर भारत पर भी पड़ता है खाड़ी देशों में फैली अशांति से वहां रहने वाले लगभग ७० लाख भारतीयों पर असर पड़ता है |अफ़्रीकी देशों के स्थायित्व को लेकर किये जा रहे कार्यों में हमें योगदान देना चाहिए
वैश्विक प्रगति और समृद्धि के लिये शांति और स्थिरता का वातावरण तत्काल बहाल करना आवश्यक है इसके लिए पूरे विश्व को एकजुट होकर वैश्विक चुनौतियों का निर्णायक रूप से सामना करना चाहिये।भारतीय पी एम ने संयुक्त राष्ट्र सुरक्षा परिषद + अंतरराष्ट्रीय मुद्रा कोष जैसी संस्थाओं में तत्काल सुधार की आवश्यकता पर बल दिया | श्री मोदी ने कहा कि ब्रिक्स को हमारे राजनीतिक संकल्प को ठोस और समन्वित कार्ययोजना में परिवर्तित करना चाहिये। मैं संयुक्त राष्ट्र द्वारा अंतरराष्ट्रीय आतंकवाद पर समग्र संधि के मसौदे को जल्द मंजूर किये जाने का आह्वान करता हूं।
हमें हर हाल में देशों पर सामूहिक दबाव बनाना चाहिये कि वे आतंकवादियों को पनाह और समर्थन नहीं दें।
इसी तरह, साइबर स्पेस जहां एक ओर बड़ा अवसर है, वहीं दूसरी ओर साइबर सुरक्षा, चिंता का बहुत बड़ा विषय है। ब्रिक्स देशों को साइबर स्पेस के संरक्षण में अग्रिम भूमिका निभानी चाहिये। मुझे इस बात की खुशी है कि हम अपने राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा सलाहकारों के माध्यम से इस संबंध में सहयोग कर रहे हैं। आखिर में, मैं कहना चाहता हूं कि यह एक अनोखा समूह है, जिसमें विश्व में शांति और स्थिरता कायम करने में महत्वपूर्ण भूमिका निभाने की क्षमता है।
उन्होंने बताया कि मैं एक ऐसी धरती से आया हूं, जहां पूरे विश्व को अपना परिवार मानने अर्थात-’वसुधैव कुटुम्बकम’ का विचार हमारी संस्कृति के चारित्रिक गुणों के मूल में समाया है। पूरे विश्व को एकजुट होकर वैश्विक चुनौतियों का निर्णायक रूप से सामना करना चाहिये।

The U.S. Deputy Secretary of State William Burns called on the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi today.
Mr. Burns delivered a letter from President Obama to Prime Minister.
In his letter, President Obama reiterated his invitation to Prime Minister to visit Washington in September and to work closely with Prime Minister to make India-U.S. relations a defining partnership for the 21st Century.
Prime Minister thanked President Obama for the invitation and looked forward to a result-oriented visit with concrete outcomes that imparts new momentum and energy to India-U.S. strategic partnership. Indian Prime Minister was of the view that re-energizing the partnership between both countries would send an important message to the region and beyond.
