:CISF Fire Service Wing of VSP, Visakhapatnam, played vital role in controlling the gas leakage and rescue operations during styrene gas leakage in LG Polymers Plant, GopalapatinamA specialised CBRN (chemical, biological, radiological and nuclear) team of the NDRF and medical specialists are being rushed to Vishakhapatnam
Director General of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) S N Pradhan said the leakage from the factory is now minimal but the NDRF personnel will be at the spot till it is totally plugged.
As of now 11 people have lost their lives and 20-25 people are critical due to the gas leak, he said at a hurriedly convened press conference here.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the Following Appointments of DG CISF+NSG + NDRF
(i) O.P. Singh, [IPS (UP:83)] presently working as DG, NDRF (ADG level) to the post of Director General, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) in the HAG+ pay scale (pre-revised) from the date of joining the post and up to the date of his superannuation
(ii)Sudhir Pratap Singh, [IPS (RJ:83)] presently working as ADG, CRPF to the to the post of Director General, National Security Guard (NSG) in HAG+ pay scale (pre revised) from the date of joining the post and up to the date of this superannuation
(iii)R. K. Pachnanda, IPS (WB:83) presently working as ADG, CISF to the post of DG, NDRF in the HAG+ pay scale (pre revised) from the date of joining the post and up to the date of his superannuation i.e. up to 31.01.2018 or until further orders whichever is earlier.
(iv) Cancellation of appointment order of P.C. Thakur, IPS (GJ:79) as Director General, Fire Services, Civil Defence & Home Guards.

Congress Vice President Rahul Gandhi today visited the spot of the flyover collapse in which 24 people were killed and said he had come to extend support to the victims and did not want to politicise the issue.
Later Rahul met the injured people in the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital and said he had come here to extend his support to the victims.
When asked to comment on the allegations of lapses in the construction of the flyover, Gandhi said, “I have come here to meet the injured. I’ll not talk about politics.”

An under-construction flyover collapsed in the city leaving at least 24 dead on Thursday. Police last night arrested three top officials of the Hyderabad based construction company which was building the flyover and slapped murder charges on them.

About 25 people have lost their lives in several parts of Darjeeling district in West Bengal.
Prime Minister Of India condoled the loss of lives due to the landslides in Kurseong and Kalimpong areas in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. And Announced compensation for landslide victims
The Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has condoled the loss of lives due to the landslides in Kurseong and Kalimpong areas in Darjeeling district of West Bengal. The Prime Minister has announced a compensation of Rs. 2 lakh from the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund, to the families of the deceased. This amount will be in addition to the compensation of Rs. 4 lakh to be given from the National Disaster Relief Fund.
The Union Home Minister, Shri Rajnath Singh spoke to the Chief Minister of West Bengal, Ms. Mamta Banerjee and assured all possible assistance from the Centre. He directed the authorities to take up the rescue and relief operations immediately. Two National Disaster Response Force teams have been dispatched for rescue operations.
On the instruction of the Prime Minister, a high level team headed by the Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Kiren Rijiju is leaving for Kurseong and Kalimpong to take stock of the situation. Shri Rijiju will be accompanied by the Member of Parliament, Darjeeling, Shri S.S. Ahluwalia and the Deputy Inspector General (Operations), NDRF, Shri S.S. Guleria.

Earlier A leak of radioactive substance from a consignment unloaded from a Turkish Airlines plane was detected at the Indira Gandhi International Airport today, forcing suspension of cargo operations.
Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh Assured that the leak has been “plugged”
According to Customs officials, cargo operations was also suspended
“Entire area was cordoned off,Staff evacuated.
The National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) was called in to check the substance and contain and plug the leak, sources said.
The material, said to be low radio activity Sodium Iodide Liquid Class 7, was imported for medical purpose by a Delhi-based multi-speciality hospital.
Meanwhile, aviation regulator DGCA also launched a probe into the incident.

[New Delhi] Relief Are On Full Swing :Earth QuakeAn earthquake with an intensity of 7.9 on ritcher scale with epicenter 77 kilometer north-west of Kathmandu has been experienced today. The impact of the earthquake has been felt in almost all northern States in India particularly in Bihar+ Uttar Pradesh+Sikkim+West Bengal. Emergency has been declared in Nepal
. As per the latest information, Provided By Ministry Of Home ,34 deaths have been confirmed so far with
[23] deaths in Bihar,
[8] in Uttar Pradesh and
[ 3] in West Bengal. In order to deal with the situation in the affected States, 5 teams of National Disaster Response Force( NDRF) have already been sent; one team to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh and one each to Darbhanga, Supaul, Motihari and Gopalganj in Bihar. 3.5 Ton Releaf Material Has Also Been Sent To Nepal By Special Helicopter.
Each team of NDRF consists of 45 personnel who are fully equipped with the modern equipments to deal with search and rescue operations.There are sniffer dogs in these teams.
The National Crisis Management Committee (NCMC) in the Cabinet Secretariat has already met and reviewed the situation through video-conferencing with the Chief Secretaries of affected States. The NCMC will be meeting regularly to take stock of the situation and the relief measures.
Control Rooms 24X7 have been set up both in MHA and NDMA with following number:-011- 2309 3564, 23093566 (MHA Control Room ), 011-26701728, 26701729, 9868881801(M) – (NDMA Control Room) Meanwhile , an inter Governmental coordination cell has been set up in Cabinet Secretariat which will coordinate all relief measures for Nepal as well as for Indian States. This will function on round-the-clock basis and the phone numbers are :- 011- 2301 6633, 2379 2281.
A report by the Seismic Division of the Indian Meteorological Department says major damage is expected in and around the epicentral region. The source region is expected to experience an intensity of IX and above at Modified Mercalli scale(MMI) , which corresponds to considerable damage even in specially designed structures . 14 aftershocks were also reported of much less magnitude till last reports came in Immediately in about ten minutes of occurrence of the quake the Indian Tsunami Early Warning Center (ITEWC) of INCOIS- Indian Nation Center for Ocean Information Services and the IMD also sent alert to all higher authorities of the government indicating the epicenter and the magnitude of the quake

The Central Govt. has assured the state Govt. to make available all possible help.Over past 2-3 days due to excessive rains in Jammu and Kashmir a flood like situation has developed in many parts of the state. Jhelum water Started Receding But Budgam landslide has taken 16 Precious Lives So Far
The State Govt. has an amount of Rs.209.70 crores available under SDRF (as on 13.02.2015). Out of this amount state govts can disburse input subsidy to farmers in respect of crops which have suffered more than 50% losses. The officials of Department of Agriculture and Cooperation are in constant touch with state Govt. officials. As soon as flood waters recede, the central govt. officials will assess the losses.
