पूर्व मुख्यमंत्री प्रकाश सिंह बादल ने केन्द्र सरकार के कृषि कानूनों के विरोध में बृहस्पतिवार को पद्म विभूषण पुरस्कार वापस कर दिया। इसके साथ ही दूसरे व्योवर्द्ध सुखदेव सिंह ढींढसा और कांग्रेस के जलन्धर छावनी से विधायक परगट ने भी अपने अवार्ड लौटाने की बात कही है
शिरोमणि अकाली दल के नेता बादल ने कहा,‘‘ मैं जो हूं , वो जनता के कारण हूं ,खासतौर पर आम किसान के कारण। आज जब उसने अपने सम्मान से ज्यादा खोया है तो ऐसे में मुझे पद्म विभूषण पुरस्कार रखने का कोई औचित्य नहीं समझ आता।’’
पार्टी ने एक बयान में कहा,‘‘ प्रकाश बादल ने भारत सरकार द्वारा किसानों के साथ की गई धोखाधड़ी, बेरूखी और कृषि कानूनों के विरोध में किसानों के चल रहे शांतिपूर्ण और लोकतांत्रिक आंदोलन पर सरकार के रुख के विरोध में पद्म विभूषण लौटा दिया है।’’

She was 85.
Gurbachan Kaur mother of Bajwa and wife of late Satnam Singh Bajwa, former minister of Punjab.
is also mother-in-law of Qadian MLA Charanjit Kaur Bajwa.

Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal called on the bereaved family of Nek Chand, the creator of Rock Garden, to express condolences on his demise last week.
Sharing his heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved family especially Chand’s son Anuj Saini at his residence in Sector 27, the Chief Minister appreciated the outstanding contribution of Nek Chand in promoting art and culture through the creation of Rock Garden.
He said that Rock Garden was a world class architectural marvel, which would ever immortalize him in the hearts of millions of his admirers.
Nek Chand, 90, died here last week following illness.Chand had been ailing for the past few days and was admitted to a private hospital here.
He was later shifted to Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), where he passed away.
He is survived by his wife Kamla, son Anuj and daughter Neelam.

A day after its alliance partner BJP expressed dissatisfaction over SAD not taking it into confidence before imposing an entry tax on sugar, Punjab Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal today asserted that each and every decision to govern the state was taken collectively.

The Punjab unit of BJP had yesterday slammed ruling alliance partner Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) for imposing an entry tax on sugar procured from other states, claiming that it had not been “taken into confidence” about the move.
“BJP was not taken into confidence about the state government’s decision to impose an entry tax of 11 per cent on sugar,” State BJP chief Kamal Sharma had said at Jalandhar yesterday, adding that the saffron party would raise the matter with the state government and demand the rollback of the order

Speaking on Sidhu’s comments regarding Badal’s hands in denying ticket to him from Amritsar for the fourth time, Badal indirectly said that it was BJP’s own decision not to give ticket to Sidhu and Akali Dal had nothing to do in it. “Neither SAD nor the BJP interferes in each other party matters, especially when it comes to distribution of ticket at their respective constituencies”, he said.
Mean while , attacking former chief minister Captain Amrinder Singh, contesting from the Amritsar seat, he said Amrinder had been giving unnecessary statements and should better analyze the failure and success of his tenure before saying anything.

प्रकाश सिंह बादल के खिलाफ मानवाधिकार हनन का मुकद्दमा अमेरिका में ख़ारिज लेकिन सिख फॉर जस्टिस अभी भी अड़ी
भारत के पंजाब प्रांत के वयोवृद्ध मुख्य मंत्री ने अमेरिका में अपने खिलाफ दायर एक केस को खारिज करवाने में बेशक ३७ लाख रुपये खर्च कर दिए लेकिन इस मुकद्दमे से अभी उनका पीछा छूटता नज़र नही आ रहा| अमेरिकन विस्कोंसिन की जिला अदालत ने बेशक बदल को राहत देते हुए मुकद्दमा खारिज कर दिया लेकिन अब न्यूयार्क स्थित मानवाधिकार समूह सिख फॉर जस्टिस [एसएफजे] ने इस मानवाधिकार उल्लंघन मामले को खारिज किए जाने के अमेरिकी अदालत के फैसले को चुनौती देने का फैसला किया है। श्री बादल विस्कोंसिन के ओक क्रीक गुरुद्वारे में मारे गए छह लोगों की श्रद्धांजलि सभा में शामिल होने गए थे और वहीं उनकी गिरफ्तारी करवाने के लिए यह मुकद्दमा दायर किया गया था|
अमेरिका के विस्कॉसिन की जिला अदालत ने अपने आदेश में कहा कि बादल को कभी भी अदालत में सम्मन नहीं किया गया है.
न्यायाधीश जीन एडलमैन ने अपने फैसले में कहा कि सिख फॉर जस्टिस (एसएफजे) ने एक ‘मौलिक’ लेकिन अपुष्ट दलील दी कि बादल को अदालत की ओर से सम्मन भेजे गए हैं जबकि क्रिस्टोफर और उसके भाई ने सुरीन्दरपाल सिंह कालरा नामक व्यक्ति को पंजाब का मुख्यमंत्री मानकर उसे सम्मन भेजा था.
गौरतलब है कि एसएफजे ने बादल के खिलाफ पिछले साल मानवाधिकार उल्लंघन का मामला दर्ज कराया था। बीते शुक्रवार को विस्कांसिन जिला अदालत ने बादल के खिलाफ याचिका को खारिज कर दिया था। एसएफजे ने कहा कि वह अमेरिकी अपीली अदालत में फैसले को चुनौती देते हुए अपील करेगा कि भेजे गए समन के आधार पर बादल को व्यक्तिगत तौर पर अमेरिकी अदालत में पेश होने को कहा जाए।
बताते चलें कि इस मुकद्दमे को ख़ारिज करवाने के लिए पंजाब सरकार को करीब 36.85 लाख रुपए खर्च करने पड़े हैं। सरकार की तरफ से अमेरिका के वकीलों को केस लडऩे के लिए कुल 67157.27 यूएस डॉलर दिए गए थे|यह जानकारी एक आर टी आई के जवाब में सरकार द्वारा मुहैय्या करवाई गई है|
लायर्स एसोसिएशन के वकील हरमिंदर संधू का मानना है कि अमेरिका की अदालत में दायर केस का जवाब देने की जरूरत नहीं थी। पंजाब सरकार ने बेवजह 36.85 लाख रुपए खराब कर दिए।
