Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi telephoned his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina on Monday and conveyed his heartiest congratulations on her party’s decisive victory in the parliamentary elections.
The Ministry of External Affairs said Modi expressed confidence that the partnership between India and Bangladesh will continue to flourish under her “far-sighted” leadership.
Hasina also thanked the prime minister for being the first leader to call her to convey his congratulations.

Bangladesh Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina today met President Of India Pranab Mukherjee and offered her condolences on the demise of his wife Surva.
She also visited the 13, Talkatora Road residence of Abhijeet Mukherjee, the President’s son, and placed a wreath on Surva Mukherjee’s body, which has been kept there to enable people to offer their last respects.
Suvra died yesterday. She was 74.
Hasina arrived here from Dhaka this morning to attend the funeral of Suvra and was received at the airport by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on telephone to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina of Bangladesh+Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif of Pakistan and Afgan President Dr. Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai
He conveyed the good wishes for the holy month of Ramadan to them and their people. He expressed hope for peace, tranquility and harmony in their countries and in the region during this month of piety and prayers.
He thanked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for his successful visit to Bangladesh and the extraordinary hospitality, friendship and goodwill that he received from the people and government of Bangladesh.
He expressed confidence that the visit has set the stage for a new era in bilateral cooperation and regional partnership between the two countries.
He reiterated to Prime Minister Sharif his message of peaceful, friendly and cooperative relations between the two countries.
Prime Minister assured President Ghani of India’s steadfast commitment to support Afghanistan in its efforts to build a peaceful, stable, secure and prosperous nation.
