IPS officer Harmandeep Singh Hans, SSP Ferozepur, has been posted as Commandant 3rd IRB, Ludhiana.
Narinder Bhargav will be the new SSP Ferozepur.
Hans was Ferozepur SSP during the Wednesday security lapse in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s convoy was stranded on a flyover.
The convoy on its way to Hussainiwala was stuck due to a blockade by protesters, forcing Modi to return from the poll-bound state without attending any event or a rally.

Bharatiya Kisan Union (Krantikari) chief Surjeet Singh Phul, whose union had blocked the road in Ferozepur, said it was the SSP Ferozepur who had informed them Narendra Modi was coming by road but we thought it was a bluff to get the road vacated.

(Asr,Pb)Govt Setup to Probe Desecration, Police Investigating Lynching at Golden Temple

Special investigation team (SIT) has been set up to probe an alleged desecration attempt at the Golden Temple in Amritsar whereas  Punjab police are trying to ascertain the identity of the man, who was beaten to death after the incident. Deputy Chief Minister Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa said an SIT has been constituted under the deputy commissioner of police (law and order), which would submit its report in two days.
The accused spent a few hours at the “Parikarma” of the holiest shrine of Sikhs, Randhawa said, adding that he was “here with an aim”.
A case was registered against the unidentified man late on Saturday night under IPC sections 295A (deliberate and malicious acts, intended to outrage religious feelings of any class by insulting its religion or religious beliefs) and 307 (attempt to murder), Amritsar Police Commissioner Sukchain Singh Gill said on Sunday.
He said footage obtained from all the cameras at the Golden Temple is being examined to collect information about the accused.
The footage shows that the man entered the Golden Temple around 11 am on Saturday and slept for a few hours in front of the Akal Takht, the supreme temporal seat of the Sikhs
The incident occurred after 6 pm and he had spent several hours in the Golden Temple before committing the crime
The man jumped across the railings inside the sanctum sanctorum of the Golen Temple, picked up the ceremonial sword and reached near a place where a Sikh priest was reciting the holy Guru Granth Sahib.
He was caught by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) task force members.
When he was being taken to the SGPC office, the angry “sangat” (congregation) thrashed him badly, which subsequently led to his death.
SGPC task force  has also been suggested to  form its own intelligence
Earlier, several political leaders condemned the alleged sacrilege attempt at the Golden Temple.

ADGP Asthana Puts Punjab Govt in Trouble,FIR Ordered

(Chd,Pb)ADGP Asthana Puts Punjab Govt in Trouble,FIR Ordered

ADGP Asthana had written the letter to DGP Sahota on December 11 before proceeding on a leave on medical grounds.
In the letter, the ADGP asked, Can further investigation be ordered in cases where trials have already been concluded? Would it be legally tenable to act upon the report of the head of the STF when the same lies sealed in custody of the high court. I may place on record my apprehension that further investigation shall require appropriate order by a superior court, which in the present case is the high court as the trials were conducted before the special CBI court Mohali,

.Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi ordered an FIR in connection with the alleged leak of a letter written by a senior police officer in which he cited legal hurdles in a reinvestigation in some drug cases against a senior Akali leader.Channi’s statement came a day after the letter written by Additional Director General of Police S K Asthana as the head of the Bureau of Investigation to state police chief Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota surfaced on social media.

The letter came as a major embarrassment for the state government.
“An FIR will be registered to find out how the letter got leaked,” Channi said when reporters questioned him about it.
Without taking names, Channi said the big fish involved in the drug racket would not be spared.
The chief minister, however, claimed that the letter which was leaked was a half version of the original.
There is another report which has not appeared in the media, he added.
Those who are scared of action and the big fish involved in the drug racket and those who could not sleep are threatening our officers, Channi claimed.
ADGP Asthana had written the letter to DGP Sahota on December 11 before proceeding on a leave on medical grounds.

(Chd,Pb)Sidhu Questions Over Appointment Of  DGP,AGP ;Pb Crisis Punjab Congress chief, Navot Singh Sidhu on Wednesday raised questions over the appointments of the director general of police and the state’s advocate general.Plunging the Congress into a fresh crisis months ahead of the assembly elections in the state, Sidhu put in his papers on Tuesday shortly after the allocation of portfolios to the new ministers of the Charanjit Singh Channi cabinet.
Taking to Twitter a day later, Sidhu said his objective had always been to improve the lives of people and to make a difference .

Apparently referring to senior IPS officer Iqbal Preet Singh Sahota, who has been given the additional charge of the director general of Punjab Police, Sidhu said, When I see those who gave clean chit to Badals six years back such persons have been given the responsibility for delivering justice.
Sahota was the head of a special investigation team formed in 2015 by the then Akali government to probe the sacrilege incidents.

“Those who secured blanket bails, they are advocate general,” he said.
