Cong’s Punjabi Capt. Challenges Kejriwal+Badal to Public Debate

[Chandigarh,Pb] Cong’s Punjabi Capt Amarinder Challenges Kejriwal+Badal to Public Debate
Punjab Congress chief Amarinder Singh today challenged Arvind Kejriwal and Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal to an “open, public debate” on any issue relevant to the upcoming state Assembly election.
After welcoming more than 300 AAP supporters and a Youth Akali Dal leader from Malwa into his party here, Amarinder, at a press meet, accused AAP national convenor and Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal of being an “escapist” and “trying to run away from a debate on one pretext or the other”.
The Congress leader dismissed the AAP supremo’s claims that he did not want to become the chief minister of Punjab saying, “It has become quite evident that his (Kejriwal’s) eyes are set on the top position in Punjab. He is simply trying to mislead the people by claiming otherwise.”
Replying to a query on Kejriwal’s charge of a “Congress-BJP nexus” in the run-up to the Punjab polls due early next year, Amarinder said he had been “running around the courts for 10 years under the Badal regime”.
“Does that indicate a nexus,” he asked, asserting that he will “not spare” the chief minister if the Congress formed the next government in the state.
Capt Said “We have done it earlier. We will put him (Badal) in his place again,”

Cong’s Punjabi Capt Amarinder Opposes Licensing Poppy Husk in The State

[Payal (Ludhiana)]Cong’s Punjabi Capt Amarinder Opposes Licensing Poppy Husk in The State
Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee president Amarinder Singh today opposed the idea of opening of licensed poppy husk shops in Punjab, saying he and his party were “strictly” against the consumption of drugs, whether natural or synthetic.
Replying to a question on the scourge of drugs in the state and a suggestion that the government should start licensing the poppy husk shops, he rejected the idea, saying all types of addictions were “dangerous and disastrous”.
“I understand that the poppy husk is relatively less harmful than synthetic drugs, but we have to endeavour towards a completely drug free Punjab,” Amarinder said, adding, “He knew who were the people responsible for producing and supplying the drugs and the time was not very far when all of them will be behind the bars”
Interacting with the residents of Payal and Raikote assembly segments during two separate programmes of ‘Halqe vich Captain’ here, he appealed to people to give him a chance “so that he could bring back the smile on each and every Punjabis’ face”.
He also disagreed with the government in “forcing” the residents of border areas to move out of their villages “without any proper arrangements”.
