Amidst the ongoing feud in Uttar Pradesh’s ruling party, the convention called by SP patriarch Mulayam Singh Yadav on January 5 is today postponed.
In a series of tweets, SP leader Shivpal Yadav said that on the orders of Mulayam Singh Yadav, the convention called on January 5 has been postponed for now.
While Shivpal gave no reasons for the abrupt cancellation of the meeting, insiders said perhaps the Mulayam camp was apprehensive of a poor turnout compared to the massive gathering at the “convention” held by Ram Gopal Yadav yesterday.
The convention was declared illegal and unconstitutional by Mulayam.
Shivpal in another tweet asked party workers to concentrate on their respective constituencies and work hard to win the elections.
Meanwhile, senior SP leaders from both sides (Akhilesh and Mulayam camps) are likely to visit the Election Commission in New Delhi today to put forth their case.
The Samajwadi Party yesterday split down the middle with the faction headed by Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav removing Mulayam as party chief and appointing him in his place at a convention in which the group claimed support of the majority of legislators and district units.
The two sides had engaged in mutual recriminatory expulsions with the convention called by Ram Gopal Yadav removing Akhilesh’s warring uncle Shivpal Yadav as state party chief, and showing the door to “outsider” Amar Singh, who has been blamed for the feud in the Yadav clan.
Mulayam had retorted by again expelling his cousin Ram Gopal for six years along with national vice president Kiranmoy Nanda, who chaired the convention, and general secretary Naresh Agarwal for taking part in it. Samajwadi Party’s Ex Chanakya Thakur Amar Singh today termed the crisis in the party as “unfortunate” and asked party members to support Mulayam Singh Yadav in the family feud which has seen Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav being expelled.
“I appeal to the party members to stand with Netaji Mulayam Singh. Whatever is happening is very unfortunate,” Amar, who had recently made a comeback to the party after a long exile,
He was asked about the crisis in the party after supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav expelled his son Akhilesh Yadav and general secretary Ramgopal Yadav for six years after they put up candidates against the official nominees and summoned a party meet on Sunday.
Amar said, “The foundation of this party was laid by Mulayam Singh with much dedication and hard work. I have said this earlier and will say it now, that Mulayam Singh is the chief of SP and the father of Akhilesh Yadav as well,”
Mulayam had yesterday said that he had taken the action against Akhilesh and Ramgopal to save the party which he had built through hard efforts.

BJP today demanded that Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav prove his majority in the Assembly or resign, labelling the party as “a sinking ship” which has failed on every front.
UP BJP chief Keshav Prasad Maurya told reporters, Governor Ram Naik should ask Akhilesh to prove his majority on the floor of the Assembly and till he did so, he should not take any policy decision.
“A government reduced to minority should not take any policy decision,” he said.
In New Delhi, BJP national secretary Shrikant Sharma said the fast-paced developments within the Mulayam Singh Yadav-led party has “exposed” Akhilesh ,the people of the poll-bound state will now evince faith in the NDA major as “change is inevitable” there.
Rita Bahuguna Joshi, who recently joined BJP after quitting Congress, said the Samajwadi Party was on the verge of a split as in the coming days the differences would widen and there would be no bridging among leaders of the ruling party.

Samajwadi Party candidates for Rajya Sabha, including Amar Singh, Beni Prasad Verma and realtor Sanjay Seth, filed their nomination papers today for the biennial elections slated for next month.
From the list of candidates for Rajya Sabha declared on May 17 after the SP Parliamentary Board meeting, the party replaced Arvind Kumar Singh with Surendra Nagar.
Other SP candidates who filed nomination are former Legislative Council Chairman Sukhram Singh Yadav, Reoti Raman Singh and Vishwambhar Prasad Nishad.
Among those who filed their nomination papers for SP, Seth is a ‘controversial’ builder from Lucknow. His name was earlier sent by the party to Raj Bhawan for nomination as an MLC, but it was not approved by Governor Ram Naik.
Thakur Amar Singh was in political wilderness for six years following his expulsion from SP, Beni recently returned to the party fold after quitting Congress.
Amar Singh was accompanied by his wife and two daughters while filing his nomination. Senior party leaders Shivpal Yadav and Ram Gopal Yadav were also present.
Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav, who was in Bhadohi on an official visit, and SP supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav were conspicuous by their absence.
The support of 37 MLAs is needed for a candidate’s entry into Rajya Sabha.
As per the existing strength of different parties in the 403-member state Assembly, SP with 229 MLAs would be able to get six nominees elected to Rajya Sabha, BSP two and BJP one.
Currently, BSP has six of these seats and SP three.

Aparna Yadav, the second daughter-in-law of Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh Yadav, has entered politics and will be the party’s candidate from a Lucknow Assembly seat next year.
26-year-old Aparna will contest the 2017 Assembly election from Lucknow’s Cantonment Assembly seat, senior minister and Mulayam’s brother Shivpal Singh Yadav said today.
At present, the seat is being held by Congress’ Rita Bahuguna Joshi.
Aparna is wife of Mulayam’s younger son Prateek Yadav.
The [1]SP supremo, [2]his elder daughter-in-law Dimple Yadav, his nephews [3]Dharmendra Yadav, [4]Akhshay Pratap and[5] Tej Pratap are Lok Sabha members.

[लखनउ,यूपी]सपा नेता+प्रवक्ता गौरव भाटिया ने अपर महाधिवक्ता पद से इस्तीफा दिया||गौरव के अनुसार उन्होंने स्वयं इस पद से इस्तीफा दिया |सूत्रों के अनुसार उच्चतम न्यायालय में पार्टी हितों के मध्यनजर गौरव की सेवाओं को अनदेखा किया गया है|
उत्तर प्रदेश सरकार ने टेलीविजन चैनलों पर आने वाले चर्चा कार्यक्रमों में अक्सर समाजवादी पार्टी [सपा] का पक्ष रखने वाले अपर महाधिवक्ता गौरव भाटिया समेत दो वरिष्ठ कानून विशेषज्ञों को पद से हटा दिया है।
विशेष सचिव[विधि कोष्ठक]अमरजीत त्रिपाठी द्वारा गत 22 मार्च को जारी आदेश के मुताबिक उच्चतम न्यायालय में राज्य सरकार की ओर से मुकदमों की पैरवी के लिये अपर महाधिवक्ता के पद पर नियुक्त गौरव भाटिया और रीना सिंह को हटा दिया गया है।
आदेश में इस कार्रवाई का कोई कारण नहीं बताया गया है।जबकि गौरव ने व्यक्तिगत कारणों से इस्तीफ़ा देने की बात कही है |
राज्य के पूर्व महाधिवक्ता और सपा के राज्यसभा सदस्य रह चुके वीरेन्द्र भाटिया के बेटे गौरव सपा के आनुषांगिक संगठन ‘अधिवक्ता सभा’ के राष्ट्रीय अध्यक्ष भी हैं।
गौरव ने इस कार्रवाई के बाद अपनी ‘फेसबुक वॉल’ पर लिखा है कि उन्होंने अपर महाधिवक्ता पद से अपना इस्तीफा मुख्यमंत्री के पास भेज दिया है।गौरव भाटिया सपा में न केवल प्रभावी पंजाबी चेहरा हैं,वरन टीवी चैनलों पर पार्टी का पक्ष मजबूती से रखने में सक्षम हैं |

पाठक ने कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री दावा कर रहे हैं कि सरकार की कोशिश है कि एम्बुलेंस की तरह पुलिस भी घटना स्थल पर सूचना मिलने के १५ -२०
मिनट में पहुंच जाये मगर उन्हें यह ध्यान नहीं रहा कि

भाजपा मुख्यमंत्री अखिलेश के इस कथन पर कि वे स्वयं कानून एवं व्यवस्था पर नजर रखेंगे भाजपा प्रवक्ता ने कहा कि 2012 में सत्ता संभालने पर भी उन्होंने कानून एवं व्यवस्था को अपनी सरकार की सर्वोच्च प्राथमिकता बताया था।
मगर चार साल बाद हालात बद से बदतर हो गये हैं।
