कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष श्रीमती सोनिया गांधी ने हाल के दिनों में संसद से जुड़ी जिन समितियों का गठन किया और जिन नेताओं को प्रमुख जिम्मेदारियां दीं, उससे ये संकेत मिलते हैं कि पत्र विवाद से जुड़े नेताओं को तवज्जो नहीं दी गई और उन्हें एक तरह से संदेश देने का प्रयास भी किया गया।
पार्टी की तरफ से बृहस्पतिवार को लोकसभा में गौरव गोगोई को उप नेता नियुक्त किया गया तो रवनीत सिंह बिट्टू को सचेतक बनाया गया। इस तरह राज्यसभा में जयराम रमेश को मुख्य सचेतक नियुक्त करने के साथ ही दोनों सदनों में पार्टी की रणनीति तय करने के मकसद से पांच-पांच सदस्यीय समितियां भी बनाई गई हैं।
राज्यसभा की पांच सदस्यीय समिति में नेता प्रतिपक्ष गुलाम नबी आजाद और उप नेता आनंद शर्मा को स्थान मिला है, हालांकि इसमें राहुल गांधी के करीबी माने जाने वाले संगठन महासचिव केसी वेणुगोपाल और वरिष्ठ नेता अहमद पटेल एवं रमेश को भी शामिल किया गया है
लोकसभा में दो बार के सांसद गौरव गोगोई को उप नेता की जिम्मेदारी दी गई है जिसे पूर्व केंद्रीय मंत्रियों मनीष तिवारी और शशि थरूर के लिए एक संदेश के तौर पर देखा जा रहा है।
कुछ दिनों पहले भी सोनिया ने केंद्र सरकार की ओर से जारी प्रमुख अध्यादेशों के संदर्भ में पार्टी का रुख तय करने के लिए जिस पांच सदस्यीय समिति का गठन किया था उसमें भी पत्र विवाद से संबंधित किसी नेता को जगह नहीं दी गई थी। उस समिति में राज्यसभा से पी चिदंबरम, रमेश और दिग्विजय सिंह थे तो लोकसभा से डॉक्टर अमर सिंह और गोगोई को शामिल किया गया।’’
आजाद, शर्मा, तिवारी, और थरूर उन 23 नेताओं में शामिल हैं जिन्होंने कांग्रेस के संगठन में व्यापक बदलाव, सामूहिक नेतृत्व और पूर्णकालिक अध्यक्ष की मांग को लेकर हाल ही में सोनिया गांधी को पत्र लिखा था। इसको लेकर बड़ा विवाद खड़ा हुआ।

Addressing a meeting of chief ministers of states where the Congress is in power, she asked “what after May 17?.” The third phase of the lockdown ends on May 17.
Former prime minister Manmohan Singh and former Congress chief Rahul Gandhi were part of the meeting
“After May 17th, What? and After May 17th, How?…what criteria is GoI (government of India) using to judge how long the lockdown is to continue…,” Congress chief spokesperson Randeep Surjewala quoted Sonia Gandhi as saying in the video conference with CMs.
She thanked farmers, particularly of Punjab and Haryana, for ensuring food security by giving bumper wheat crop produce despite all odds.
Former prime minister Manmohan Singh also said, “We need to know, as Soniaji said, what will happen after lockdown 3.0?”.
Speaking at the meeting, Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh said he has set up two committees, one to strategise on how to come out of the lockdown and the other on economic revival.
Rajasthan Chief minister Ashok Gehlot said, “until extensive stimulus package is given, how will states and the country run? We have lost Rs 10,000 crore revenue.”
Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel said, “States are facing dire economic crisis. They need to be provided immediate assistance.”

Lok Sabha on Thursday witnessed uproar over a controversial remark by a RLP MP, who is a BJP ally, against the Gandhi family during a discussion on coronavirus, leading to adjournment of proceedings for over an hour.
Congress members stormed the Well of the House as soon as Hanuman Beniwal said there should be a probe on whether coronavirus is being spread from the “home” of Congress President Sonia Gandhi as a large number of people who were found to be affected by the virus are from Italy.
Fourteen Italians have tested positive for coronavirus in India.
“Earlier, Congress leader Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury said that party leader Rahul Gandhi had forewarned the government on the impending threat from coronavirus. There should be a probe to find out if the spread of the virus originated from Sonia Gandhi’s home,” the Rajasthan MP remarked.
With this, the Congress members rushed to the Well of the House strongly protesting and shouting slogans, tearing papers and throwing some on the table of the Speaker.
Rajendra Agarwal, who was in the chair, immediately adjourned the House till 2 pm.
Leaders of various parties were speaking in Lok Sabha after Union Health Minister Harsh Vardhan made a statement on steps taken by the government to control spread of coronavirus.

The government has withdrawn the Special Protection Group (SPG) cover of Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her children Rahul and Priyanka, and they will now be given Z-plus security by the CRPF, officials said on Friday.
SPG cover was given to the family of former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, who was assassinated by LTTE terrorists on May 21, 1991,
The Gandhis will be without SPG protection after 28 years. They were included in the VVIP security list following an amendment in September 1991 in the SPG Act of 1988.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will now be the only person being protected by the elite SPG commandos.
In August this year, the government withdrew the SPG cover of former prime minister Manmohan Singh.
The SPG Act, enacted by Parliament in 1988, was initially supposed to provide security to only the prime minister and former prime ministers of the country.

The Congress on Thursday announced it will hold massive agitations across the country from October 15 to October 25 against the government’s policies that have allegedly led to an “economic slowdown”.
The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by Congress chief Sonia Gandhi at the AICC headquarters
The meeting was attended by former prime minister Dr Manmohan Singh, AICC general secretaries and in-charges of various states and Congress Legislative Party leaders, among others.
It was decided at the meeting that Pradesh Congress Committee delegate conventions will be held across the country from September 20 to 30 to highlight the “economic slowdown”, Congress spokesperson R P N Singh said at a press conference, in which party general secretary K C Venugopal was also present.
This will be followed by massive agitations across the country from October 15 to October 25 against the government over its policies that have led to the slowdown, Singh said.
