[New Delhi]Assault of a Sikh boy in Australia Echoed In Indian Rajya Sabha
A BJP member in Rajya Sabha today raised the issue of a 13-year old Sikh boy being mocked and assaulted in a Melbourne bus and asked the government to take up the matter with its Australian counterpart.
Avinash Rai Khanna during Zero Hour.said “India should ensure the guarantee of safety of Punjabis, Sikhs and Indians from the Australian government so that such incidents do not recur. This is an issue where immediate action is required,”
Such incidents keep happening and would not stop till strict action is taken against the culprits, he said amid slogan-shouting by opposition members in the Well over government’s alleged interference in the affairs of Aligarh Muslim University.
Quoting Herald Sun it is said that Harjeet Singh was riding a suburban bus home when three persons, believed to be in their late teens, assaulted and mocked him. He was also allegedly threatened that he would be stabbed and had his turban pulled off in the hate attack,
