The Maharashtra Cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to make Ajay Devgn-starrer “Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior” tax-free in the state.
The film based on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s trusted lieutenant Tanaji Malusare, who played a pivotal role in capturing the Kondana fort, now known as Sinhagad Fort located near Pune, has grossed over Rs 150 crore since it its release on January
Last week, the chief minister himself Uddhav Thackeray brought up the topic about the film in the Cabinet.
The film, starring Ajay Devgn, Saif Ali Khan and Kajol, has been directed by Om Raut.

Deepika Padukone’s film ‘Chhapaak’ has been facing the wrath of a certain section of people after Padukone visited the Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi to express solidarity with the students who were attacked by a masked mob on January 5.
The decision to declare the film tax-free in Rajasthan was taken on Friday night.

The Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath took to Twitter to make the announcement, saying the movie gives a “positive message to the society about acid attack survivors.”
“I declare Deepika Padukone-starrer ‘Chhapaak’, the film based on acid attack survivors and set for release on January 10, as tax free in Madhya Pradesh,” Nath tweeted.
Padukone visited the JNU campus in Delhi on Tuesday to express solidarity with students who were attacked by a mob, but did not address the gathering.
After her JNU visit, many appreciated her “silent solidarity”, but some others criticised her for “supporting Leftists”, saying it was a promotional stunt ahead of her film’s release.
“#Boycott Chhapaak” was also trending on Twitter, as was “#ISupportDeepika”.

“Panipat, directed by Ashutosh Gowariker, will be tax free in Maharashtra, the makers of the film announced on Thursday.
Featuring Arjun Kapoor, Sanjay Dutt and Kriti Sanon, the film which is based on the third battle of Panipat that took place in 1761, released on December 6, 2019.
Gowariker took to Twitter to thank the state government for its decision.
