Congress on Sunday declared it will contest all the 80 Lok Sabha seats from the state on its own.Earlier SP and BSP announced their Alliance without Congress and Left Only Two Seats For Congress .
Speaking to reporters , party general secretary and UP in-charge Ghulam Nabi Azad said, his party will double its tally of seats, which it had secured in the 2009 Lok Sabha elections.
During the parliamentary elections, the Congress had bagged 21 seats in the politically crucial state.
On Congress being left out of the SP-BSP alliance, the Congress general secretary said: “We wanted that Congress should have been a part of the grand alliance (against the BJP) in UP. But, if someone does not want to walk along, then nothing could be done.”
On the post-poll alliance with the SP and BSP, Azad said that at the national level, the Congress welcomes all the secular regional parties.
On possibilities of an alliance with the Rashtriya Lok Dal, Azad said that he would not like to peak to the media on this issue.

Uttar Pradesh Congress chief Raj Babbar today expressed hope that there will be a “miracle” in favour of his party in the upcoming assembly election in the state.
Babbar is here to take part in Congress president Sonia Gandhi’s road show in Varansi, the Lok Sabha constituency Prime Minister Narendra Modi represents.
Responding to questions from media persons if road shows and other programmes would help the party at the hustings, he said, “Rest assured…we are among the people…Sonia is here to have darshan and take blessings of Baba Vishwanath in this holy month of Shravan.”
This is the third major programme of the party in the past few days after “27 saal-UP behal” Delhi-Kanpur bus yatra and Rahul Gandhi’s interactive session with booth level workers in Lucknow.
Earlier, Smt Sonia arrived here to a rousing reception by party workers for a six-km-long road show.
Her cavalcade was accompanied by 5,000 strong contingent of motorcyclists from Lal Bahadur Shastri Babatpur airport to the circuit house.
Huge banners and buntings have been put up by party to make the roadshow successful and launch the poll campaign in the eastern region of the poll-bound state.
BJP did not fare very well in the eastern part of Uttar Pradesh in the last assembly election and Congress hopes to take advantage make inroads.
BJP, which swept the 2014 national election in the state winning 71 of its 80 Lok Sabha seats, hopes to extend that victory to the 2017 UP assembly elections.

Congress today launched its poll campaign in Uttar Pradesh, with party chief Sonia Gandhi and her deputy Rahul Gandhi flagging off a three-day bus yatra “27 saal UP behaal” – from the party headquarters here.
The yatra, aimed at reaching out to the public and highlighting the alleged failure of successive governments in Uttar Pradesh in the past 27 years ever since the Congress is out of power there, will cover a total distance of 600 kms.

Ghulam Nabi Azad, the general secretary in-charge of party affairs in the state,
Sheila Dikshit, the party’s chief ministerial face in the state, and
state unit chief Raj Babbar, along with others will travel in the bus that will halt at various places en route Kanpur.
They will also address a number of public meetings and interact with party workers on the way. The yatra will cover four districts each day and will halt at Moradabad on the first day, covering important districts in western Uttar Pradesh.
It will then travel to Shahjahanpur, covering Rampur and Bareilly and on the third day it will cover Hardoi, Kannauj and then end at Kanpur.
Azad said the party will aim to form a government in Uttar Pradesh. The party does not believe in dividing people on religious and caste lines and seek to unite them instead,

[New Delhi] ACB Sends Notice to Cong Leader, Sheila Dikshit:Water Tanker Scam. Mrs Dikshit May Be Congress Candidate For CM Of UP.
The Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) has sent notice to Mrs Sheila Dikshit asking her to join the investigation in connection with the alleged Rs 400-crore water tanker scam even as the former Delhi Chief Minister dubbed the charges as “politically motivated”.
Special Commission of Police and ACB Chief MK Meena today said, “Notices have been sent to Sheila Dixit and few Delhi Jal Board officials. They shall be questioned on July 26.”
Asked by reporters what happens if Dikshit fails to turn up before the ACB despite the notice, Meena said, “We can’t predict anything in this regard. We are taking action as per law.”
The notices were sent yesterday under the provisions of section 160 of the CrPC.
A case was registered by the ACB on June 20 in connection with the alleged scam linking Mrs Dikshit.
The ACB had received two complaints with regard to the alleged scam and those named in the complaints included Dikshit and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal.
Meena had then said that both Dikshit and Kejriwal will be quizzed in connection with the matter.
A week prior to registration of the case, the Delhi Government had sent a report of a fact-finding committee on the scam to Lt Governor Najeeb Jung. Delhi BJP leader Vijender Gupta had also filed a complaint with Jung accusing Kejriwal of “suppressing” the committee’s report for 11 months.
The Lt Governor had forwarded the committee’s report as well as Gupta’s complaint to the ACB.
Delhi’s Water Minister Kapil Mishra too had written to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jung recommending either CBI or ACB probe against Dikshit in connection with the alleged scam.
