Two-term former Rajya Sabha member Chandan Mitra has resigned from the BJP amid speculation that he may join the Trinamool Congress.
Mitra is likely to be present at the party’s ‘martyrs’ day’ rally in Kolkata on July 21.
Considered close to veteran BJP leader L K Advani, Mitra was nominated to the Upper House in 2003 when the BJP-led NDA was in power at the Centre and again elected to the House in 2010 from Madhya Pradesh on the party’s ticket.
However, his political stock within the party plunged under Prime Minister Narendra Modi and BJP president Amit Shah, and he was left with little organisational responsibility.
He was fielded as the party’s candidate from Hooghly in West Bengal in the 2014 Lok Sabha election and came a distant third.

सरकार के खिलाफ इस अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पर लोकसभा में 20 जुलाई को होगी
पिछले चार वर्षो में विपक्ष की ओर से नरेंद्र मोदी नीत राजग सरकार के खिलाफ पेश किये गये पहले अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पर लोकसभा में 20 जुलाई को चर्चा और मत विभाजन होगा।
लोकसभा अध्यक्ष सुमित्रा महाजन ने कहा, ‘‘अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पर 20 जुलाई (शुक्रवार) को चर्चा और मत विभाजन होगा । इस पर पूरे दिन चर्चा होगी और उसी दिन वोटिंग होगी।’’ सदस्यों की ओर से चर्चा के लिए कुछ और समय बढ़ाने की मांग पर स्पीकर ने कहा कि सात घंटे का समय चर्चा के लिये रखा गया है। इस दिन प्रश्नकाल नहीं चलेगा और गैर-सरकारी कामकाज नहीं होगा। सिर्फ अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पर चर्चा होगी।
इससे पहले लोकसभा में आज मोदी सरकार के खिलाफ पेश अविश्वास प्रस्ताव का नोटिस स्वीकार हो गया । हालांकि सदन में तृणमूल कांग्रेस के दिनेश त्रिवेदी ने कहा कि पश्चिम बंगाल में हम 21 जुलाई को शहीद दिवस मनाते हैं और उसके आयोजन की वजह से 20 जुलाई को तृणमूल का एक भी सांसद सदन में नहीं रहेगा। इसलिए शुक्रवार की जगह चर्चा सोमवार को कराई जाए। संसदीय कार्य मंत्री अनंत कुमार ने कहा कि विपक्ष को अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पेश करने के बाद किसी भी क्षण चर्चा के लिए तैयार रहना चाहिए। अविश्वास प्रस्ताव महत्वपूर्ण है और सदस्यों को अन्य कोई भी कार्यक्रम छोड़कर उसमें भाग लेना चाहिए। लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि सदस्य शुक्रवार को चर्चा में भाग लेकर भी लौट सकते हैं। उन्होंने कहा कि इस विषय पर अभी चर्चा नहीं हो सकती। वह व्यवस्था दे चुकी हैं। मांग नहीं माने जाने पर तृणमूल के त्रिवेदी और सौगत राय ने सदन से वाकआउट किया। हालांकि सदन से बाहर दिनेश त्रिवेदी ने संवाददाताओं से कहा कि उन्होंने तृणमूल प्रमुख ममता बनर्जी से इस बारे में फोन पर बात की है और उन्होंने कहा है कि 20 जुलाई को अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पर चर्चा के दौरान पार्टी के सभी सांसद सदन में मौजूद रहेंगे ।
सदन में प्रश्नकाल समाप्त होने के बाद लोकसभा अध्यक्ष ने सरकार के खिलाफ अविश्वास प्रस्ताव का नोटिस देने वाले सभी सदस्यों का उल्लेख किया और तेदेपा के एस केसीनेनी को अविश्वास प्रस्ताव पेश करने को कहा ।
उल्लेखनीय है कि तेदेपा आंध्र प्रदेश पुनर्गठन अधिनियम के प्रावधानों को पूर्ण रूप से लागू करने और आंध्र प्रदेश को विशेष राज्य का दर्जा प्रदान करने की मांग को लेकर राजग गठबंधन से अलग हो गई थी।
अध्यक्ष ने कहा कि उन्होंने एस केसीनेनी, तारिक अनवर, मल्लिकार्जुन खडगे समेत कुछ अन्य सदस्यों के अविश्वास प्रस्ताव के नोटिस को स्वीकार किया है और अब वह इस नोटिस को सदन के समक्ष रख रही हैं।
अध्यक्ष ने उन सदस्यों से खड़े होने का आग्रह किया जो अविश्वास प्रस्ताव के नोटिस के पक्ष में हैं।
उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसे सदस्यों की संख्या 50 से अधिक है, इसलिये यह प्रस्ताव सदन में स्वीकार होता है।

उत्तर प्रदेश में मेरठ जिले के इंचौली थाना क्षेत्र में पुलिस के अनुसार नूर मोहम्मद नामक एक व्यक्ति की 20 वर्षीय पुत्री का नासिर के साथ प्रेम प्रसंग चल रहा था। बताया जाता है कि लड़की 23 मार्च को नासिर के साथ चली गई थी। इस संबंध में नूर मोहम्मद ने नासिर के खिलाफ अपनी पुत्री को भगा ले जाने का आरोप लगाते हुए इंचौली थाने में मामला दर्ज कराया था।
प्राप्त जानकारी के अनुसार इस बीच दोनों ने निकाह कर लिया। अदालत में भी लड़की ने खुद को बालिग बताते हुए अपने प्रेमी और पति के साथ रहने की इच्छा जाहिर की थी। अदालत ने लड़की को उसके पति की सुपुर्दगी में दे दिया था।
इसी बीच लड़की का पिता लगभग 10 दिन पूर्व लड़की को जबरदस्ती इंचौली ले आया था।
मंगलवार की देर रात नूर मोहम्मद ने सो रही अपनी पुत्री का पहले गला घोंट दिया और बाद में सरिया से प्रहार कर उसकी हत्या कर दी। उसने आज सुबह लगभग छह बजे थाने पहुंच कर आत्मसमर्पण कर दिया। मृतका की मां ने अपने पति के खिलाफ पुत्री की हत्या का मामला थाने में दर्ज कराया है।

Under this new policy, the tenure of an Station House Officer (SHO) and a Munshi at a police station has been capped to a maximum of three years, and that of constables and Head constables to five years,
Besides, it was decided that no SHO in-charge of a police station shall be posted in his home sub-division, he said.
The new transfer policy also provides that no upper or lower subordinate shall remain posted in the same district after registration of a criminal case against him/her in the district. In such cases,
Under the new policy, the minimum tenure of a SHO in-charge of a police station shall be one year, which can be extended up to three years by the SSP concerned or the commissioner of police by mentioning specific reasons.

Near miss incidents, known as ‘airprox’ in aviation parlance, are generally those where the distance between two airborne planes is less than the prescribed safety limits.
The count of near miss incidents touched 32 in 2016 before coming down to 28 last year.
While 33 such incidents happened in 2014, the number dropped to 25 in 2015.
These figures are based on incidents reported to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA).
Civil Aviation Ministry officials said the airprox rate per 10,000 aircraft movements has been on the decline during the 2012-17 period.
However, there has been an increase in terms of absolute number of such incidents during the same period, as per the data.
In 2012, as many as 18 near miss incidents were reported to the DGCA and the number rose to 23 in 2013. It went up to 33 in 2014, the data showed.
The count increased to 28 in 2017.
Under aviation norms, airprox incidents are classified into four categories —
‘critical’,
‘serious’,
‘no hazard’ and
‘unclassified’.
The officials noted that there was only one ‘critical’ incident during the 2012-17 period.
In recent times, there have been airprox incidents, including the one that involved two IndiGo aircraft.
This incident happened on July 10 in the Bangalore airspace. The planes were operating on Coimbatore-Hyderabad and Bangalore-Cochin routes.
The officials said this incident was classified under the ‘no hazard’ category and is being probed by the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau (AAIB).
India is one of the fastest growing aviation markets in the world and many domestic airlines have placed orders for a large number of aircraft as they look to cater to the rising passenger traffic.
