(New Delhi) Army Disbands Military Farms
Army on Wednesday disbanded its military farms after 132 years in service.These farms were set up by the British to ensure supply of milk to Army units.The farms were occupying around 20,000 acres of defence land and the Army was spending around Rs 300 crore annually for their maintenance Army decided to “transfer” all the cattle kept in the farms to government departments or dairy cooperatives at a nominal cost.
And personnel who were employed with the military farms have been redeployed within the Army.A flag ceremony for the closure of the facilities was held at Military Farms Records at Delhi Cantonment,
In August 2017, the defence ministry announced a series of reform measures for the Indian Army that included shutting down of the military farms, housing around 25,000 head of cattle, in the country.
It said the military farms with their dedication and commitment supplied 3.5 crore litres of milk during a period spanning over a century.
“First Military farm was raised on February 1, 1889 at Allahabad. After Independence, military farms flourished with 30,000 head of cattle in 130 military farms all over India in varied agro-climatic conditions,” the Army said.
“It is credited with pioneering the technique of artificial insemination of cattle and introduction of organised dairying in India, providing yeoman service during 1971 war, supplying milk at the Western and Eastern war fronts as well as during Kargil operations to the Northern Command,”
The Army said military farms were even established in Leh and Kargil in late 1990s, with the task of supplying fresh and hygienic milk to troops at their locations on a daily basis.

The SGPC has asked the centre to repeal the recent farm laws, in a set of resolutions that also urges the UN to declare 2021, the 400th birth anniversary year of Guru Tegh Bahadur, as the International Human Rights Year .
The resolutions were moved by Bibi Jagir Kaur, chief of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, an apex gurdwara body, and were passed by its members.
In its resolution on the celebration of the Guru Tegh Bahadur’s birth anniversary, the SGPC also asked the Centre to establish a unique monument of the ninth Guru on the lines of ‘Virasat-e-Khalsa’ at Sri Anandpur Sahib, dedicating it to his 400th birth anniversary.
The resolution also demanded large scale development of all historic sites related to Guru Tegh Bahadur, including his birthplace Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal in Amritsar and Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib, the shrine built in Delhi to commemorate his martyrdom.
The day of martyrdom of the ninth Guru should be celebrated as ‘Religious Tolerance Day’ and the Centre should make the holy ‘baani’ (Gurbani writings) of the ninth Guru available in libraries all over the world by translating them into major languages of the world, the resolution said.
All these works should be done under the supervision of the SGPC, it added.
The resolution also asked the Centre and the state governments to declare the SGPC as the nodal body for the fourth birth centenary celebrations of the ninth Guru, to be held at home and abroad.
Apart from this, the road from Agra, the place of the arrest of the ninth Guru, to his martyrdom site at Delhi, should be declared as ‘Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Marg’ and from Delhi to Sri Anandpur Sahib as ‘Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib Sis Marg’, as his holy ‘Sis’ (head) was carried on this route after the martyrdom, the resolution said.
A resolution was also passed for the reopening of the Kartarpur corridor.
The resolution on the farm laws also condemned the death of a youth Navreet Singh during the farmer tractor rally in Delhi on January 26 and demanding an impartial inquiry into the matter.
The resolution also demanded immediate release of youths and farmers apprehended during the tractor rally and withdrawal of criminal cases lodged against them.

Cabinet today stamped its formal approval on Various such schemes announced by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh earlier this month.
The CM had announced the free travel scheme in the Vidhan Sabha on March 5, as part of his government’s efforts to empower women and girls in the state.
The scheme will benefit over 1.31 crore women/girls across the state. As per Census 2011, Punjab has a population of 2.77 crores (males 1,46,39,465 and female 1,31,03,873).
Under the scheme, women residents of Punjab can avail free bus travel in Government-owned buses, including PEPSU Road Transport Corporation (PRTC), Punjab Roadways Buses (PUNBUS) and City Bus Services operated by Local Bodies. However, the scheme is not applicable to Government-owned AC Buses, Volvo Buses and HVAC Buses. Documents like Aadhaar Card, Voter Card or any other proof of residence in Punjab would be required to avail the facility.
Further, all women who are family members of Punjab Government employees and residing in Chandigarh, or are themselves employees of Punjab Government but live in Chandigarh, can avail the benefit, irrespective of age and income criteria, of free travel in the said government buses.
Punjab Cabinet on Wednesday also gave the nod to the Punjab Urban Development Authorities Amnesty Scheme-2021 for recovery of outstanding installments.
The allottees, who were issued allotment letters based on draw of lots or auction or through some other process but have defaulted in payment of one or more installments due after December 31, 2013, may deposit the principal amount, along with scheme rate of interest, within three months from the date of notification under the amnesty scheme.
The cases where allotments have been cancelled due to default in installments or there is litigation on this count, where instalments were due after December 31, 2013, may also avail this scheme. These cases would be treated as if the cancellation was not done, and the forfeited amount would be treated as credited to the allottees’ accounts on the date of forfeiture. However, the scheme is not applicable where physical possession has been taken over by an authority.
Notably, a sum of Rs. 700 crore is outstanding against various allotees of residential plots, flats, commercial plots, institutional plots, industrial plots and chunk sites sold through draw of lots and auctions. As per prevalent instructions, penalty is imposed if a person defaults in payment of due installment on time, which varies from 3% to 5% per annum, in addition to scheme rate of interest depending on delay in terms of years. This penalty translates into net interest rate of up to 17% per annum, which is very high.

(चंडीगढ़,पँजांब)कैप्टेन अमरिन्दर सिंह ने पँजांब में कोविड बन्दिशें 10 अप्रैल तक बढाई पहले यहबन्दिशें 31 मार्च तक ही लगाई गई थी।
पँजांब में कोविड के कारण मृत्यु दर में लगातार बढ़ोतरी दर्ज की जा रही है।24 घण्टे में 79 मौतें दर्ज की जा चुकी हैं। जिसके फलस्वरूप मृत्यु का आंकड़ा 6749 पर पहुंच चुका है नए इन्फेक्टेड लोगों की संख्या भी चिंताजनक रूप से उछाल ले रही है।इस बिगड़ती स्थिति को काबू पाने के लिए मंगलवार को नए आदेश जारी किए गए हैं।
नाभा ओपन जेल में 40 महिलाओं के कोविड पाॅजिटिव पाये जाने को देखते हुये मुख्यमंत्री ने कैदियों के लिए भी जेलों में विशेष टीकाकरण मुहिम शुरू करने के आदेश किये।
सीएम ने मुख्य सचिव विनी महाजन को टेस्टिंग की संख्या बढ़ाने और भीड़-भाड़ वाले इलाकों के साथ व्यस्त मार्केट क्षेत्रों में टीकाकरण शुरू करने के लिए जरूरी निर्देश जारी करने के लिए कहा।ताजा आंकड़े बताते हैं कि वायरस का यू.के. स्ट्रेन राज्य में सबसे ज्यादा पाया जा रहा है। वायरस के स्तर का पता लगाने के लिए शुरुआत में एन.सी.डी.सी. को भेजे 401 कोविड पाॅजिटिव सैंपलों में से 326 केस यू.के. वायरस के पाये गए। बाद में आई.जी.आई.बी. को भेजे 95 सैंपलों में से 85 सैंपल यू.के. स्ट्रेन के पाये गए।
स्वास्थ्य एवं परिवार कल्याण विभाग के प्रमुख सचिव ने कोविड महामारी की ताजा दशा और योग्य वर्ग के लाभार्थियों के टीकाकरण की स्थिति भी सांझा की। बढ़ते मामलों सम्बन्धी इस रुझान के अनुसार 6 अप्रैल, 2021 को शिखर पर होगा। अनुमानों के अनुसार मई, 2021 के अर्ध या आखिर में मामलों की संख्या घटने लगेगी। इसके इलावा यह भी बताया गया कि जालंधर, लुधियाना, पटियाला, साहिबजादा अजीत सिंह नगर, होशियारपुर और कपूरथला में और केस आने की संभावना है और यह भी संभावना है कि 40 साल या इससे कम के नौजवानों में यह केस सबसे अधिक होंगे।
अपने आदेशों पर अमल कराने में प्रदेश सरकार की सफलता का अनुमान इन आंकड़ों से लगाया जा सकता है कि 90,360 व्यक्तियों के चालान और कोविड टैस्ट किये गए हैं। प्रत्येक शनिवार को एक घण्टे का स्वतः कर्फ्यू भी बेकार साबित हुआ।यहां तक कि किसान आंदोलनकारी भी एकट्ट से बाज नही आ रहे।
पंजाब सरकार के स्वास्थ्य और मैडीकल शिक्षा सलाहकार डा. के. के. तलवाड़ के अनुसार कुछ चुनिंदा प्राईवेट अस्पतालों में कोविड के इलावा अन्य मरीजों के इलाज को 2-4 हफ्तों के लिए स्थगित किया जा सकता है और जहाँ कोई मैडीकल कालेज नहीं है, उन जिला अस्पतालों में और ऐंबूलैंसें उपलब्ध करवाई जा सकती हैं।

India’s COVID-19 tally climbed to 1,20,95,855 with 56,211 more people testing positive for the infection in a span of 24 hours, while 271 more fatalities pushed death toll to 1,62,114, according to the Union Health Ministry’s data updated on Tuesday.
Registering a steady increase for the 20th day in row, active cases have increased to 5,40,720 comprising 4.47 per cent of the total infections, while the recovery rate has further dropped to 94.19 per cent.
According to the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 24,26,50,025 samples have been tested up to March 29 with 7,85,864 samples being tested on Sunday.
A total of 1,62,114 deaths have been reported so far in the country, including 54,283 from Maharashtra,
12, 684 from Tamil Nadu, 12,520 from Karnataka, 11,012 from Delhi, 10,325 from West Bengal,
8,790 from Uttar Pradesh and
7,210 from Andhra Pradesh and
6,749 from Punjab.
The Health Ministry stressed that more than 70 per cent of the deaths
occurred due to comorbidities.

वृद्ध एवं गंभीर बीमारियों से ग्रसित कैदियों को इसलिए रिहा किया जा रहा है, ताकि वे कोविड संक्रमण के खतरे से बच सकें। इस निर्णय से ऐसे बंदी जो कैंसर, एडस, कुष्ठ एवं अन्य गंभीर रोगों से ग्रसित अथवा दृष्टिहीन हैं और अपने दैनिक क्रियाकलापों के लिए दूसरों पर निर्भर है, उन्हें रिहा किया जा सकेगा। अपराध में दण्डित वृद्ध पुरूष, जिनकी आयु 70 वर्ष तथा महिलाएं, जिनकी आयु 65 वर्ष या इससे अधिक है और सजा का एक तिहाई भाग भुगत चुके हैं, उन्हें समय पूर्व रिहाई मिलेगी।
