[New Delhi]Oh! No!! Shikhar Dhawan’s Family Stopped at Dubai Airport
Cricketer Shikhar Dhawan had to go through an ordeal when his wife and kids were stopped at Dubai airport from boarding a connecting flight to Cape Town, which hosts India’s opening Test against South Africa on January 5.
Apparently, Dhawan’s family was asked to show birth certificates and some other documents as identification proofs, which they weren’t carrying.
Dhawan vented out his ire on social media after reaching South Africa without his family.
“Absolutely unprofessional from Emirates. I was on my way 2 SA with my family & was told that my wife and kids can’t board the flight from Dubai to SA. I was asked to produce birth certificates & other documents for my kids at the airport which we obviously didn’t have at that moment,” he wrote on his twitter handle.
“They are now at Dubai airport waiting for the documents to arrive. Why didn’t @emirates notify about such a situation when we were boarding the plane from Mumbai? One of the emirates’ employee was being rude for no reason at all,” the Indian opener said in another tweet.
India, including newly-married skipper Virat Kohli, checked into their hotel in Cape Town last night.
India will play three Tests, six one-dayers and three T20Is during the 56-day-long tour.

[Dehradun,UK] BAR Opening along Highways Gets Easy in U’khand, Bars are shifted from sale to service sector
The Uttarakhand government has brought bar licences under the service sector, paving way for reopening of a number of restaurants and bars which had shut shop following a Supreme Court order banning sale of liquor within 500 metres of highways.
The decision was taken by the Uttarakhand Cabinet at its meeting chaired by Chief Minister Trivendra Singh Rawat yesterday.
Shifting bar licences from sales to service sector through an amendment in the Uttar Pradesh Excise Act 1910, which has been in force in Uttarakhand ever since its creation, clears the way for resumption of closed down bars along highways in the state as well as opening of new ones.
The decision will give a boost to revenue generation by the excise department, state Urban Development Minister and official spokesman of the state government Madan Kaushik said.
The state government also decided to effect a substantial hike in the penalty amount to be charged from liquor vends for over rating and adulteration increasing it from Rs 5000 to Rs 20,000.
