This was the first cash seizure in Bhivandi Of Thane district after the assembly poll schedule for Maharashtra was announced on September 21.
The driver, identified as Suresh Dharmani, could not provide a satisfactory explanation about the source of the money, it said.
Last week, Thane collector Rajesh Narvekar, who is also the district election officer, had asked officials to keep an eye on movement of cash ahead of the October 21 voting.
He has directed banks to provide proper identification papers and letters to those transporting cash for loading in ATMs.

प्रवर्तन निदेशालय (ईडी) ने बृहस्पतिवार को दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय से कहा कि वह रॉबर्ट वाड्रा को हिरासत में लेकर उनसे पूछताछ करना चाहता है क्योंकि धनशोधन मामले में ‘‘धन के लेन-देन की कड़ियों’’ से कथित रूप से उनका सीधा संबंध है।
ईडी ने न्यायमूर्ति चंद्र शेखर के सामने कहा कि कांग्रेस प्रमुख सोनिया गांधी के दामाद वाड्रा मामले की जांच में सहयोग नहीं कर रहे हैं।
वाड्रा पर लंदन में 12, ब्रायनस्टन स्क्वायर स्थित 17 करोड़ रुपए की सम्पत्ति की खरीदारी में धनशोधन का आरोप है। उनके खिलाफ धनशोधन रोकथाम अधिनियम के तहत जांच की जा रही है।
वाड्रा ने कहा कि ईडी बेमतलब की जांच कर रही है और उसके पास उनके खिलाफ आरोपों के समर्थन में कुछ भी सामग्री नहीं है

उन्होंने कहा कि वस्तुओं के उत्पादन, संरक्षण और विपणन के लिए प्रौद्योगिकी की जरूरत है और विश्व बाजार में प्रतिस्पर्धा करने के लिए नई तकनीकों की आवश्यकता है। एमएसएमई के विकास के जरिये प्रधानमंत्री के 5 ट्रिलियन डॉलर की अर्थव्यवस्था के सपने को पूरा किया जा सकता है। इसके लिए नई तकनीकों को अपनाने की जरूरत है।
उन्होंने इसके साथ ही चेतावनी भी देते हुए कहा कि हमें तकनीकों के अनुप्रयोग में सावधान रहने की आवश्यकता है, क्योंकि कभी-कभी यह प्रकृति के खिलाफ कार्य करती है।
सुक्ष्म, लघु व मध्यम उद्यम मंत्रालय के सचिव अरुण पांडा एमएसएमई के विकास आयुक्त राम मोहन मिश्रा और आईआईटी दिल्ली के सुनील झा व अन्य विशेषज्ञों ने भी विचार रखे ।एमएसएमई को पूरी दुनिया में जीडीपी में बड़ा योगदान देने वाला क्षेत्र माना जाता है। इस क्षेत्र में 6 करोड़ इकाईयां हैं, जो 8,000 से अधिक उत्पाद बनाते हैं। इस क्षेत्र में 11.1 करोड़ लोग कार्यरत हैं।

उल्लेखनीय है कि जेटली उत्तर प्रदेश से उच्च सदन में भाजपा के सदस्य थे जबकि जेठमलानी बिहार से उच्च सदन में राजद के सदस्य थे।
जेटली का निधन 24 अक्तूबर को हुआ था। राज्यसभा सदस्य के रूप में उनका कार्यकाल दो अप्रैल 2024 तक था।
जेठमलानी का निधन आठ सितंबर को हुआ था और उच्च सदन में उनका कार्यकाल सात जुलाई 2022 तक था।

India slammed the UK’s Labour Party after it passed a resolution calling for international intervention on the Kashmir issue.
Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Wednesday described the Labour Party’s move as an attempt at “pandering to vote-bank interests”.
There is no question of engaging with the Labour Party or its representatives on this issue, he said.
The UK’s opposition Labour Party on Wednesday passed an emergency motion on Kashmir calling for party leader Jeremy Corbyn to seek international observers to “enter” the region and demand the right of self-determination for its people.
