(New Delhi) PM Modi Asks to Enhance Satisfaction of Power Consumer
The Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi reviewed the work of the Ministry of Power and Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, last evening. Policy initiatives including revised Tariff Policy and the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2020 to redress the problems afflicting the power sector were discussed.
Prime Minister Modi emphasized the need to enhance consumer satisfaction while increasing operational efficiency, and improving financial sustainability of the power sector. He pointed out that the problems in the power sector, especially of the electricity distribution segment, vary across regions and states. Instead of looking for a one-size-fits-all solution, the Ministry should put in place state-specific solutions to incentivize each state to improve its performance.

He advised the Ministry of Power to ensure that the DISCOMs publish their performance parameters periodically so that the people know how their DISCOMs fare in comparison to the peers. He also emphasized that equiement usages in power sector to be make in India.

Dhaval Patel, is editor of a news portal, who was arrested for publishing a news article purportedly claiming that Chief Minister Vijay Rupani might be replaced over his handling of the coronavirus pandemic in the state.
The news item uploaded by Patel on his news portal on May 7 suggested that BJP high-command might remove Rupani from his post and replace him with Union minister Mansukh Mandaviya, as per the FIR.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday attacked the Yogi Adityanath government for transferring IPS officers, terming it as an attempt to lower the morale of the force.
The Uttar Pradesh government had on Tuesday transferred 10 senior IPS officers, including ADG, Law and order.
“In this corona period, administrative stability is needed more than in common days. Transfer of 10 ADG and IG level officers is work of lowering morale of force,” the SP chief said in a tweet in Hindi.
“Government is putting blame of poor law and order due to its policy failure and lack of coordination between centre and state on officers,” the former UP chief minister said.

State Congress president and Lok Sabha member N Uttam Kumar Reddy flagged off the bus today at Gandhi Bhavan, the party’s headquarters in Telangana
The Congress had arranged two buses last week for 80 migrant workers to reach their native places in Uttar Pradesh and Odisha.
The buses were made available in line with the directive of the party central leadership to help such workers who are keen on going back to their native places during the ongoing COVID-19 national lockdown, state leaders had said.
They had also claimed there was no response after the state unit wrote to the Chief Secretary expressing its willingness to contribute towards the “Shramik special” train ticket charges for migrant labourers.
