Punjab cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, the first minister in the state to contract the infection, a health official said.
The Rural Development and Panchayats minister had undergone a COVID-19 last Friday after his department’s director tested positive for the disease.
The samples of Bajwa, who is also the higher education minister, were collected for the second time after the first report had come negative on Saturday.
“He (Bajwa) has tested positive for coronavirus,” Health Department Director Avneet Kaur said here. “His samples were collected again on Tuesday and his report confirmed him to be positive.

#राजस्थान एपिडेमिक अध्यादेश के अंतर्गत अब तक 2 लाख 42 हजार से अधिक व्यक्तियों का चालान कर 3 करोड 85 लाख रुपये से अधिक का जुर्माना वसूल किया जा चुका है। मुख्यतः सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर
मास्क नहीं लगाने पर एक लाख से अधिक,
बिना मास्क पहने लोगों को सामान बेचने पर 8 हजार से अधिक,
निर्धारित सुरक्षित भौतिक दूरी नहीं रखने पर एक लाख 30 हजार व्यक्तियों के चालान किये गये है। सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर थूकंने वाले, शराब का सेवन करने वाले व्यक्तियों एवं सार्वजनिक स्थलों पर गुटखा- तम्बाकू का सेवन करने वाले व्यक्तियों के खिलाफ कार्यवाही की गयी है।
महानिदेशक पुलिस अपराध श्री एम.एल.लाठर के अनुसार निषेधाज्ञा तथा क्वारंटाईन मापदण्डों का उल्लघंन करने पर 3 हजार 495 एफआईआर दर्ज कर अब तक करीब 7 हजार 292 व्यक्तियों को गिरफ्तार किया गया। निषेधाज्ञा व एमवी एक्ट के तहत चालान कर 6 लाख 11 हजार वाहनों का चालान एवं एक लाख 50 हजार वाहनों को जब्त किया गया एवं करीब 10 करोड़ 47 लाख रुपये से अधिक जुर्माना वसूल किया जा चुका है।
प्रदेश में 22 हजार व्यक्तियों को सीआरपीसी के प्रावधानों के तहत शांति भंग के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया। सोशल मीडिया के दुरुपयोग के मामले में राजस्थान पुलिस की टीम लगातार नजर बनाए हुए है। पुलिस ने सोशल मीडिया के दुरुपयोग के मामलों में अब तक 217 मुकदमे दर्ज कर 299 असामाजिक तत्वों के खिलाफ अभियोग दर्ज किया है एवं 226 को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
महानिदेशक पुलिस अपराध ने बताया कि कालाबजारी करने वाले लोगो पर भी पुलिस की पैनी नजर है। लॉक डाउन के दौरान काला बाजारी करते पाये गये दुकानदारों के विरुद्ध आवश्यक वस्तु अधिनियम के तहत 139 मुकदमे दर्ज कर कार्रवाई की जा रही है एवं 95 को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
वर्तमान में रात्रि 10 बजे से प्रातः 5 बजे तक सभी गतिविधियों निषिद्ध है।

Going strict on enforcement of safety protocols, DC Mohali Girish Dayavan said “No loitering what-so-ever would be permitted; safety protocol enforcement teams would not just issue a warning or challan violators but would register FIRs for non-compliance to directions issued by State Government.”
Girish Dayalan informed that the district has registered 21 COVID positive cases on Tuesday while two patients recovered and another two with co-morbidities succumbed to infection.
Amongst the two deceased were a 48years Male from Jawaharpur who was admitted in PGI since 9/7/2020 and a 65years Male from New Chandigarh who was admitted in PGI since 5/7/2020. Notably, both were with co morbidity.
As of now, total cases reported in the district are 444 with 158 active cases and 279 have been discharged while 9 expired.

District Administration is deliberating over imposing stricter weekend restrictions,
Directing the entire safety protocol enforcement team including the officers of Municipal Corporation Mohali, Executive Officers of Municipal Councils as well as the Sub-Divisional Magistrates to activate teams for stricter enforcing of social distancing and wearing of masks in critical crowding locations such as market areas, malls, restaurants/eateries, public offices, banks, etc. with immediate effect,
Ruling out the feeling that safety protocol enforcement is lax in Mohali, Girish Dayalan said that “the cases that have surfaced are not due to people coming on their own to flu centres/hospitals for checking; rather administration is going for extensive sampling of target groups( contacts of active cases, travel history) which has led to surfacing of positive cases.” We have not lowered the guard and the situation is under control, said he.
He also informed that Federal Behda in Dera Bassi has been made the containment zone (over fifteen cases), village Majat charcoal factory and Peermuchalla is micro containment zone( more than five but less than fifteen) and Sector 66 Mohali is declared as the Cluster(more than two but less than fifteen cases).

Punjab Finance Minister Manpreet Singh Badal today met Union Minister of Chemicals and Fertilizers D. V. Sadananda Gowda and sought the establishment of a national Pharmaceutical Park in Bathinda.
The Finance Minister informed the Union Minister that a tranche of 1350 acre of land is readily available for the venture. The land has been vacated by the erstwhile Bathinda Thermal Plant. Further, a functional railway siding and infrastructure is also available for the supply of raw materials and carriage for the Pharma industry.
Badal also thanked D. V. Sadananda Gowda for his prompt and positive response in providing an opportunity to present the case of Punjab. The Union Government has already announced its intention to establish three pharmaceutical parks in the country. The Finance Minister also requested Union Minister to depute a team to visit the site.
Later on, Badal had a meeting with Minister of State for Chemicals and Fertilizers Mansukh L. Mandaviya and discussed the various Punjab related issues, besides conversing modalities and feasibility for the upcoming projects.

मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत के अनुसार भाजपा नेता राज्य में उनकी निर्वाचित सरकार को गिराने की कोशिश कर रहे हैं। इसके लिए पुलिस में रिपोर्ट भी कराई गई है।
राजस्थान की कांग्रेस सरकार को अस्थिर किए जाने के प्रयास के इन आरोपों पर पलटवार करते हुए भारतीय जनता पार्टी (भाजपा) के प्रदेशाध्यक्ष सतीश पूनियां ने शनिवार को कहा कि मुख्यमंत्री अशोक गहलोत ने इस तरह के आरोप लगाकर राजस्थान की राजनीति की शुचिता को भंग किया।
पूनियां ने इसे कांग्रेस का आंतरिक झगड़ा बताते हुए कहा कि भाजपा तो इसमें दर्शक भर है। इसके साथ ही उन्होंने कहा कि गहलोत कांग्रेस की अंतरकलह व अपनी सरकार की विफलता को छुपाने के लिए प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी, केंद्रीय गृहमंत्री अमित शाह, भाजपा व उसके प्रादेशिक नेताओं पर आरोप लगाते रहते हैं।
उपनेता प्रतिपक्ष राजेंद्र राठौड़ ने आरोप लगाया कि सरकार विपक्ष के विधायकों तथा अन्य जनप्रतिनिधियों के फोन टैप करवा रही है।
उन्होंने कहा,‘‘ इस सरकार की बुनियाद ही बिना नींव के रखी गयी थी इसलिए हर तीन माह में सरकार के पाए हिलते हैं। गहलोत के आज के संवाददाता सम्मेलन में साबित कर दिया कि यह अस्थिर सरकार है।’’
