Refugees are among the most vulnerable people in the world. The 1951 Refugee Convention and its 1967 Protocol help protect them. They are the only global legal instruments explicitly covering the most important aspects of a refugee’s life. According to their provisions, refugees deserve, as a minimum, the same standards of treatment enjoyed by other foreign nationals in a given country and, in many cases, the same treatment as nationals.

SP chief Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday charged that the BJP was busy focusing on elections and not interested in tackling the problem of joblessness.
There have been some cases of migrant labourers, who have returned to Uttar Pradesh from other states recently, committing suicide.
“In UP, unemployment has emerged as a big problem in form of suicides. Forgetting truth of corona, BJP has become busy in elections. When BJP is not considering unemployment and starvation as a problem, how will it solve them.With Bihar election nearing, after some days ‘star campaigner’ will also start flying,” Yadav said in a tweet in Hindi.

The Madhya Pradesh government has transferred 16 IAS officers, including collectors of seven districts and divisional commissioner of Indore.
The newly-appointed collectors are Alok Kumar Singh (Dhar), Ilayaraja T (Rewa), Ved Prakash (Narsinghpur), Anil Kumar Khare (Mandla), Chandramauli Shukla (Dewas), Rajiv Ranjan Meena (Singrauli) and Avdhesh Sharma (Agar Malwa).
The existing district collectors of six of these districts, except Singrauli, have been shifted as deputy secretaries in the state secretariat
Bhopal Municipal Commissioner B Vijay Dutta has also been transferred as deputy secretary in the state secretariat and replaced by V S Choudhary Kolsani, who was till now Singrauli’s district collector.
Besides, Indore divisional commissioner Akash Tripathi has been replaced by Pawan Kumar Sharma, who was commissioner of the Narmada Valley Development Authority.
Tripathi has been appointed as managing director of the Jabalpur-based Madhya Pradesh Power Management Company.

Press Council of India (PCI) member B R Gupta has resigned from his post, saying he was unable to work individually or collectively for the media, which is in a “deep crisis”.
He claimed that the PCI was not a wholly representative body for the media.
Referring to salary cuts and job losses, he said media and mediapersons were struggling for social, political and economic justice.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi has given its approval to rename Kolkata Port as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port.
The Board of Trustees of Kolkata Port Trust in its Meeting held on 25th February, 2020 has also passed a Resolution to re-name Kolkata Port as Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port, Kolkata considering his multifaceted genius as an eminent jurist, academician, thinker and leader of the masses.
On the occasion of the inaugural ceremony of Sesquicentenary Celebrations of Kolkata Port on 12th January, 2020, keeping in view the sentiments of the people of West Bengal, it was announced that Kolkata Port will be re-named after Dr. Syama Prasad Mookerjee, one of the most deserving sons of West Bengal and a front-runner in national integration, dreamer of Bengal’s development, inspiration for industrialisation and ardent votary of one law for one nation.

Satwalekar has been the Managing Director of HDFC Ltd and subsequently the Managing Director and CEO of HDFC Standard Life Insurance Co. Ltd.

Samajwadi Party president Akhilesh Yadav on Wednesday attacked the Yogi Adityanath government for transferring IPS officers, terming it as an attempt to lower the morale of the force.
The Uttar Pradesh government had on Tuesday transferred 10 senior IPS officers, including ADG, Law and order.
“In this corona period, administrative stability is needed more than in common days. Transfer of 10 ADG and IG level officers is work of lowering morale of force,” the SP chief said in a tweet in Hindi.
“Government is putting blame of poor law and order due to its policy failure and lack of coordination between centre and state on officers,” the former UP chief minister said.

This is the first major bureaucratic rejig by the BJP-led state government since Shivraj Singh Chouhan became chief minister in March this year.
As per the order issued on Saturday night,
former chief secretary Gopal Reddy has been posted as chairman of the revenue board at Gwalior,
I C P Keshari as vice chairman of the Narmada Valley Development Authority,
Vinod Kumar as additional chief secretary (ACS) of the general administration department and
J N Kansotia as ACS of the animal husbandry department
Besides, Anupam Rajan is posted as principal secretary of the public relations and higher education departments.
The government has removed P Narhari as commissioner of the public relations department and replaced him with Sudam P Khade. Narhari has now been made managing director of the marketing federation and will continue as commissioner of the urban development and administration department.
As per the order, Sanjay Shukla is posted as principal secretary of the industrial policy and promotion department, replacing Rajesh Rajora, who is transferred as principal secretary of the labour department.
Neeraj Mandloi is posted as principal secretary of the public works department, replacing Malay Shrivastava, who is now posted as principal secretary of the public health engineering department.
Forty other senior IAS officers, including two who suffered from COVID-19 and later recovered, have also been transferred, the sources said.

(New Delhi) Amit Khare Assumes Charge as I&B Secretary
Amit Khare, a 1985-batch IAS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, on Monday assumed charge as Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for a second time.
Khare, who was appointed Secretary in the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting for the first time in May 2018, was replaced by Ravi Mittal in December last year.
In a bureaucratic reshuffle on Sunday, Higher Education Secretary Amit Khare was given additional charge of the I&B Ministry, while Mittal was shifted to the Department of Sports.
