The Punjab Cabinet led by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh on Saturday gave approval to grant financial assistance of Rs.12000/- per month to the state’s journalists who are accredited to the Department of Information and Public Relations.
With this decision, the government has conceded a long-pending demand of the journalist fraternity.
journalists working with the State of Punjab, who are above 60 years of age and who have been accredited for five years out of the last six years, shall be given a financial assistance of Rs.12,000/- per month.

Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot Addressing the ‘Gau Raksha Sammelan’, attended by the owners of cows shelters said non-lactating cows should not be abandoned and efforts should be made to look after them.
He assured increase in grant for cow shelters so that cows are fed well. Cow shelter managers run the shelters with the help of donation amount, grant but despite that they face difficulties,”
He said he has directed the finance department officials to release the pending grant for cow shelters.
Pointing out towards the problem of stray animals, Gehlot said that non-lactating cows are abandoned and such cattle roam around streets and cause accidents.
Earlier Directorate of Gopalan has issued a letter to all district collectors asking them to motivate donors+NGOs+social workers and cow lovers to adopt stray cows and felicitate them on August 15 and January 26.
The Directorate of Gopalan of the state government works for cattle conservation, research and development.
As per Vishram Meena Director of Gopalan, they will encourage Cow lovers to celebrate their birthdays, wedding anniversaries and such occasions by spending time with their adopted cows.

कलेक्टर डॉ संजय अलंग के निर्देश पर आज कलेक्ट्रेट सहित विभिन्न शासकीय कार्यालयों का प्रातः 10.30 बजे औचक निरीक्षण किया गया। निरीक्षण के दौरान अनुपस्थित पाये गये कर्मचारियों का एक दिन का वेतन काटने का निर्देश कलेक्टर ने दिया है। कलेक्ट्रेट से अनुपस्थित कर्मियों की संख्या जारी नहीं की गई है |
कलेक्टर ने स्वयं कलेक्टोरेट के आवक-जावक शाखा, वित्त एवं स्थापना शाखा का निरीक्षण किया और उपस्थिति पंजी का अवलोकन कर अनुपस्थित कर्मचारियों के बारे में जानकारी ली। जो कर्मचारी समय पर उपस्थित नहीं हुए थे। उनका वेतन काटने का निर्देश दिया। कार्यालय के सहायक अधीक्षक को निर्देशित किया कि वे कर्मचारियों की समय पर सुनिश्चित करें।

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora told reporters when asked about the poll schedule in the wake of tensions between the two countries.
Arora said as per a new notification of the commission, candidates will have to give details of their properties abroad, besides those in the country.
When asked about the EC’s stand on inflammatory speeches, Arora said in his review meetings, he tried to find out the status of such cases lodged during previous elections.
“The C-Vigil app will be launched soon so that any citizen, whose name will be kept secret, can register his poll related complaints. Besides this, we will constitute committees to keep an eye on social media,” he said.
In all the 1,63,331 polling centres, VVPAT machines will be used this time,
