[New Delhi]Indian Defence Forces Also Banned Nestle’s Popular Snack Maggi Noodles
Over 1,000 army and navy canteens have been asked to set aside existing stocks of the popular snack Maggi noodles until further orders.
The order comes in the wake of a controversy over the alleged presence of monosodium glutamate (MSG) in the noodles beyond permissible limits.
Maggi is one of the most consumed food items among the army personnel who number over 13 lakh.
The union government has referred the Maggi issue to the National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission to take appropriate action even as more states — Odisha, Tamil Nadu and West Bengal — lifted samples for laboratory testing.
Consumer cooperative society Kendriya Bhandar is withdrawing Maggi noodles from its 130 stores in and outside Delhi.
In the backdrop of safety concerns over Maggi noodles, the country-wide network of 1500 Central Police Canteens (CPCs) catering to central paramilitary personnel have already discontinued Nestle India’s products after detecting alleged irregularities in their packaging.
The firm and its products are no long procured for these canteens that serve over 8 lakh central police personnel drawn from forces like CRPF, BSF, ITBP, CISF, SSB and NSG,”
Some state police departments were also beings served through this network which comprises 119 master canteens and 1,373 subsidiary canteens across India.

National carrier Air India has shelved its plan to acquire five Boeing 787-9, the higher range variant of Boeing Dreamliner (787-800) aircraft, after failing to secure the nod of its Board and would stick to the original model.
Air India currently has 20 Dreamliners in its fleet. The carrier had signed a deal with the American aircraft maker Boeing Co in 2005 to acquire 68 planes, of which 27 are the Boeing 787-800s. The rest 41 are Boeing 777s (23) and 737-800 (18).
Of the remaining seven planes, which are to be delivered to the Air India by mid-2016, the carrier had late last year proposed to replace five of them with Boeing 787-9.
“Air India had put across its proposal to acquire five Boeing 787-9 in lieu of Boeing 787-800s to its Board recently.
But the board did not accept this proposal
The airline was looking at inducting the higher range variant of the aircraft, which has more seating capacity than the existing model for its ultra long-haul routes such as the US and Canada.
The Boeing 787-800 has 256 seats, of which 18 are in business class and remaining 238 in economy class.
Model substitution rights is available for Air India under the purchase agreement for the B787-8 aircraft signed by it with Boeing.
As Per Minister of State for Civil Aviation Dr Mahesh Sharma ,Boeing had provided four interior layout options for the B787-9 in two class (executive + economy) configuration,

Punjab today joined the states which have ordered laboratory testing of Maggi noodles samples following allegations of lapses in food safety standards.
Heath and Family Welfare Minister Surjit Kumar Jayani informed to media that . almost 60 samples of Maggi noodles have been collected from various parts of the state for laboratory testing
He said that the samples have been sent for testing in a government laboratory in Amritsar.
BJP quota Minister said “If any lapse is found as per food safety standards, then appropriate action will be taken in this regard,”
The minister said a probe is being conducted by various states into the alleged lapses in food safety standards in popular instant food.
[2] The samples of Maggi instant noodles are being tested at a lab as part of the nationwide exercise over the alleged presence of mono-sodium glutamate (MSG) and lead in their food products.
As per K Amarender Reddy, Director of Institute of Preventive Medicine (IPM), 22 samples from state. are collected and sent for screening. Andhra Pradesh shares the lab with Telangana
Tamil Nadu government has also decided to send Nestle’s noodle brand Maggi to the labs
Uttar Pradesh + Kerala have already ordered the retailers in their states to take the product off their shelves.
The Food Safety Department of Tamil Nadu has initiated proceedings in this regard, collecting samples and sending them to laboratories across the state to be examined,
The Central Government had made it clear yesterday that Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) is testing more Maggi samples collected from different states following the detection of MSG and lead in excess of the prescribed limit in the noodles.
Last week, a case had been lodged against Nestle India by state food regulator FSDA in a local court at Barabanki in Uttar Pradesh over safety standards of its Maggi, while actors Amitabh Bachchan, Madhuri Dixit and Preity Zinta have also been dragged into it for promoting the ‘two-minute’ noodles brand
In Gujarat 39 samples of Maggi noodles have been collected and sent them for laboratory testing.

White House, Today, Discussed Drug-Resistant Bacteria and Good Antibiotic Stewardship.
The White House hosted a forum on combating drug-resistant bacteria and enhancing good antibiotic stewardship. The gathering today was an effort to engage in a discussion on the dangers of the overuse of antibiotics, and follows the March release of the National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria.
The White House announced a Presidential Memorandum directing the federal government to buy meat from sources that follow responsible antibiotic use. Separately, it was announced that at the White House, the Presidential Food Service will only serve meats and poultry that have been raised in accordance with the same responsible-use policies.
The White House also highlighted several companies’ leadership in committing to curb antibiotic use in food production and agriculture.

[Kolkata] India Discovered 176 Species From The Country And Contributed To Science
During last year, field biologists discovered 176 species of animals from India which are new to science, states Zoological Survey of India.
According to official records by ZSI responsible for animal taxonomy under the Union Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change, 176 new species were discovered, described and reported from all over India last year.
Insects, which escape attention due to its size in areas with dense undergrowth, leads the pack among the animal kingdom as 93 new species of the invertebrates were found.
The list includes
23 species of fishes,
24 amphibian species like frogs, toads, etc,
two species of reptiles,
12 species of arachnida (spiders) and
12 crustacean (crabs, lobsters, shrimps, etc).
As per ZSI director Dr K Venkataraman Most of these discoveries have been made by ZSI scientists working across the country.
Director Said that Many of the new species have been found from the biodiversity-rich areas in the Eastern Ghats, Western Ghats and Northeast states.
Home to a number of rare and endemic species, India has two global biodiversity hot spots – Eastern Himalayas and The Western Ghats.

संचार एवं सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्रालय के अनुसार बीएसएनएल 15 जून, 2015 से देश भर में मुफ्त रोमिंग सुविधा शुरू करेगा
संचार और सूचना प्रौद्योगिकी मंत्री श्री रविशंकर प्रसाद ने एक पत्रकार वार्ता में अपने मंत्रालय के एक वर्ष के निष्पादन के बारे में यह वक्तव्य दिए।
के केंद्रीय मंत्री द्वारा बताये गए एक साल की सरकार की उपलब्धियों के कुछ मुख्य भाग निम्न हैं
दूरसंचार विभाग द्वारा स्पेक्ट्रम की नीलामी से 1,09,874 प्राप्त हुए हैं जिसके फलस्वरूप अब सरकार ने देशवासियों को फ्री रोमिंग सुविधा का एलान कर दिया है
केंद्रीय मंत्री रवि शंकर प्रसाद के अनुसार 80,277 करोड़ रुपये के स्वीकृत आरक्षित मूल्य पर 1,09,874 करोड़ रुपये की नीलामी की गई, जो अब तक का सर्वाधिक है। सुशासन के तरीके, डिफेंसबैंड की पहचान और रक्षा मंत्रालय से स्पेट्रम जारी होने के कारण यह उपलब्धि प्राप्त हो सकी है। उल्लेखनीय है कि यह कार्य छः वर्षों से भी अधिक समय से लंबित था।
· अप्रैल, 2015 में 100 करोड़ से भी अधिक टेलीफोन कनेक्शन किये गए जो पिछले 11 माहों में सबसे तीव्र वृद्धि का संकेत है।
पिछले तीन वर्षों के दौरान देश में टेली-डेन्सिटी मार्च 2012 के 78.6, मार्च 2013 के 73.32 और मार्च 2014 के 75.23 की तुलना में इस समय राष्ट्रीय टेली-डेन्सिटी 79.85 है।
· पिछले 11 माहों में 4.57 प्रतिशत वृद्धि के साथ ग्रामीण टेली-डेन्सिटी बढ़कर 48.90 प्रतिशत हो गया जो पिछले तीन वर्षों में सर्वाधिक वृद्धि का संकेत है (मार्च 2014 में 43.18, मार्च 2013 में 41.6 और मार्च 2012 में 39)।
· ब्रॉडबैंड कनेक्शनों की संख्या, यानि 512 केबीपीएस अथवा अधिक स्पीड वाले कनेक्शन मई 2014 के 65.33 मिलियन से बढ़ कर मार्च 2015 में 99.20 मिलियन हो गयी जो पिछले 10 माहों में 52 प्रतिशत की अभूतपूर्व वृद्धि का संकेत है।
· दूरसंचार क्षेत्र में प्रत्यक्ष विदेशी निवेश (एफडीआई) 2014-15 में (फरवरी 2015 तक) बढ़कर 2853 मिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर तक पहुंच गया है। यह पिछले चार वर्षों में सर्वाधिक है (2013-14 में 1307 मिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर, 2012-13 में 304 मिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर, 2011-12 में 1997 मिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर और 2010-11 में 1665 मिलियन अमरीकी डॉलर)।
इसके उपरान्त भी बीएसएनएल और एमटीएनएल के पुनर्जीवन के लिए प्रयास जारी है
· पिछले वर्षों में ऋणात्मक वृद्धि के लक्षण को पलटते हुए वर्ष 2014-15 में बीएसएनएल के राजस्व में 2.1 प्रतिशत वृद्धि हुई।
· पिछले वर्षों में ऋणात्मक वृद्धि के लक्षण को पलटते हुए वर्ष 2014-15 में बीएसएनएल ने 47 लाख ग्राहक जोड़े और एमटीएनएल ने 2.11 लाख ग्राहक जोड़े।
· बीएसएनएल अपनी विस्तार योजना के सातवें चरण में 4,805 करोड़ रुपये की लागत से 25,645 नए बेस ट्रांसिवर स्टेशन (बीटीएस) स्थापित करने की प्रक्रिया चला रहा है, जो पिछले 5 वर्षों में इस प्रकार की पहली निवेश योजना है।
· पिछले एक वर्ष के दौरान ऐसे 15,000 बीटीएस स्थापित किए गए।
बीएसएनएल लैंडलाइन लोकल एक्सचेंजों के स्थान पर आईपी (इंटरनेट प्रोटोकॉल) आधारित नेक्स्ट जेनरेशन नेटवर्क स्थापित करने जुटा है।
