Deputy Chief Minister Sukhbir Singh Badal today claimed that the Punjab government has fulfilled 95 per cent of the promises made in its manifesto in 2012.

He said more than Rs 20 thousand crore would be spent connecting all major cities with 4-6 lanes across the state.
He claimed that Punjab was the only state which was giving free power upto Rs 5500 crore annually to farmers.

old age pensions are the key decisions of the Government.
He said this year would observed as development year and Rs 25 crore would be released to each constituency for inclusive development.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed that more than one lakh jobs would be filled in next six months.
He said the Punjab Government has decided to release grants to M Mandals and youth clubs to empower the women and youth in the rural areas.
He announced Rs 150 crore for the sewerage and water supply in Batala city besides the creation of ADC post for the city.
The Deputy Chief Minister also distributed more than Rs 13 crore to 81 villages for development works.
Besides that Rs 12 crore was also announced as grants for the villages.
The Deputy Chief Minister said that the Congress would be the only opponent of the SAD-BJP in the next assembly elections.
Terming AAP supremo Arvind Kejriwal as a “hollow leader”, Badal alleged “he is spending Rs 552 crore on his personal propaganda which is a loot of public finances.

Delhi Health Minister Satyendra Jain in a tweet said .”Delhi first state to launch HPV vaccine for cervical cancer as public health programme,”
As part of the programme, which was launched yesterday, girls of class VI in government schools will be targeted in the first phase. This will be completed in the current academic year over two phases.
Human Papillomavirus (HPV) is a common sexually transmitted infection which causes cervical cancer.

The State Rural Development and Panchayats Department has also issued standing orders in this regard.
The Cabinet approved the Punjab Plastic Carry Bags (Manufacture, Usage and Disposal), Control (Amendment) Bill, 2016.
An Ordinance issued on February 18, 2016, the state government had prohibited the manufacture, sale and use of plastic carry bags in all Municipal Corporation, Municipal Council and Nagar Panchayats from April 1, 2016.

As many as eight incidents of dogs straying in the runway and hampering flight operations have been reported from various domestic airports in the previous year,
In three out of the eight incidents the pilot had to reject the take off while in another the flights were told do a go-around, according to the Minister of State for Civil Aviation Mahesh Sharma.
Budget carrier IndiGo reported the highest number of such incidents (4) while AirAsia India had two cases and Spicejet one incident,
The incident of a dog straying on the runway and forcing the pilot of a private shipping company to do a go-around was also reported during the period.
Sharma said that Government is taking all measures along with all functional agencies and State authorities to effectively check the menace.
An airport environment management committee has also been constituted under the chairmanship of district authorities at airports to handle environmental issues including dog menace effectively, he said.
It monitors and controls presence of unauthorised slums, eating places, abattoirs, garbage dumping areas, carcass and open sewage which attracts birds and wildlife, the Minister added.
At vulnerable airports, vehicular entry gate is modified with double gate systems to prevent possible entry of stray animals, he said adding security agencies (CISF, State Police) is also sensitised periodically to ensure prevention of stray animals entry

The Punjab Cabinet today approved an upward revision in ex-gratia for soldiers either martyred or disabled during operations within the geographical limits of the country.
The family of soldiers who die during counter-insurgency operations will now be given an ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh instead of Rs 2 lakh, the state Cabinet decided at a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Parkash Singh Badal.
Soldiers with above 75 per cent disability would now get Rs 4 lakh instead of Rs 2 lakh,
those with 51 per cent to 75 per cent disability would get Rs two lakh instead of Rs one lakh
, and those with 25 per cent to 50 per cent disability Rs one lakh instead of Rs 50,000,
