[Chd,Pb] Pb Assembly Pays Homage to Vajpayee & Chaterjee @ Rs 70 Lakh
Punjab state Vidhan Sabha today paid homage to former prime minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee on the first day of its Monsoon session After which House was adjourned without any business. One day session cost Rs 70 Lakh
At the outset of the session, a two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the departed souls.
Tributes were also paid to Chattisgarh Governor Balramji Dass Tandon, former Punjab minister Surinder Singla, ex-MLAs Joginder Nath and Kuldeep Singh Wadala and veteran journalist and noted writer Kuldip Nayar.
Rich tributes were also paid to freedom fighters and soldiers who sacrificed their lives for the country.
Punjab Vidhan Sabha speaker Rana K P Singh proposed that homage be paid to all those members who had passed away since the last session.
After the obituary references to 17 eminent personalities, he passed a resolution for conveying the condolences of the House to their respective families. The resolution was passed by voice vote.
On the request of Sunam MLA Aman Arora, the name of Jangir Singh Sutantar, a freedom fighter from Sangrur district, was included in the list of obituaries.
The speaker also consented to include the name of Tarlok Singh, a victim of an alleged hate crime in the United States, on the request of Rural Development and Panchayat Minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa.

Punjab goverment has issued the postings orders of two IAS officers.
[1] Raj Kamal Chaudary,IAS is posted as secretary, Expenditure (Department of Finance) with additional charge of secretary, Removal of Grievances.
[2] Ajoy Sharma, IAS as Chief Executive Officer, Punjab State Water Supply and Sewerage Board, with Additional Charge of Joint Managing Director-cum-CEO Punjab Municipal Corpaortaion and Ex-officio Secretary, Local Government and in addition Secretary, Punjab State Governance Reforms Commision .
In another order Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Hoshiarpur, by virtue of the post will hold additional charge of Land Acquisition Collector, Dholbaha Dam, Construction Circle, Hoshiarpur.

[New Delhi]Jaitely With New Kidney, Resumes Duty as Finance Minister
He stepped aside as Finance Minister in mid-May to undergo a kidney transplant,
Jaitley, 65, had stopped attending office at the beginning of April.
Jaitley had undergone a renal transplant operation on May 14. On that day, the charge of his ministry was given to Minister for Railways and Coal Piyush Goyal on an interim basis.
Since his surgery he has been staying in controlled environment as per the doctors advice.
He, however, attended the Rajya Sabha for the election of Deputy Chairman on August 9. This was his first public appearance in over four months.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today described Kuldip Nayar as an “intellectual giant” and said the veteran journalist would be remembered for his fearless views.
He said on twitter ,He was saddened by the journalist’s demise.
As per his elder son Sudhir Nayyar ,Bhism of journalism died at around 12.30 AM at a private hospital,
He is survived by his wife and two sons.
His last rites will be performed at Lodhi crematorium.
