Khattar Accused Pb Counterpart of Misleading on SYL

(Chd,Hary)Khattar Accused Pb Counterpart of Misleading on SYL
Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar accused Punjab of “misleading” on the Sutlej-Yamuna link canal despite the apex court ruling in their favour.
He said this during a review meeting on the canal issue.
The chief minister was informed that chief secretaries of both states would be meeting the central water secretary in New Delhi on December 6 over the issue.
Khattar also slammed the neighbouring state on stubble burning.
“Punjab is misleading the country by targeting Haryana on the issue of stubble burning and holding the state responsible for increasing pollution,” he said.
In September 2019, the Supreme Court had given four months to Punjab, Haryana and the Centre to find an amicable solution to the SYL canal issue.
Haryana has been seeking the completion of the canal to get its share of 3.5 million acre feet of river waters.

(New Delhi) Subsidies @ ₹ 17 Cr in Parliament Canteens Set to Go
Leaders cutting across party lines on Thursday agreed to such a suggestion from Speaker Om Birla
The waiver of subsidies will result in saving around Rs 17 crore annually,
Out of the total subsidy of Rs 17 crore, Rs 14 crore is at present availed by Parliament staff and others who visit the premises while Rs 3 crore is by MPs.
The subsidies in these canteens have long been a contentious issue and the government had reduced them a few years ago following a hue and cry after it came to light that Parliament canteens were being subsidised to the extent of 80 per cent of the cost.
Following a meeting the Speaker had with floor leaders of different parties of Business Advisory Committee, a decision was taken to do away with subsidies altogether.
There are currently five canteens in the Parliament complex run by the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation.
