देवरिया जिले की सदर सीट से भाजपा विधायक जन्मेजय सिंह का हृदय गति रुकने से निधन हो गया। वह 75 वर्ष के थे।
बृहस्पतिवार रात को सिंह की तबीयत खराब होने पर उन्हें सिविल अस्पताल ले जाया गया। इसके बाद रात दस बजे हालत बिगड़ने पर उन्हें लोहिया संस्थान रेफर कर दिया जहां मेकर लगाने के दौरान उनकी मत्यु हो गई।

उत्तर प्रदेश के 16 जिलों के 875 गांवों में जनजीवन अस्त—व्यस्त है। इनमें से 578 का सम्पर्क बाकी क्षेत्रों से कट गया है।
खतरे के निशान से ऊपर बह रही शारदा, राप्ती और घाघरा नदियों की बाढ़ से प्रदेश के आम्बेडकर नगर, अयोध्या, आजमगढ़, बहराइच, बलिया, बाराबंकी, बस्ती, देवरिया, फर्रूखाबाद, गोण्डा, गोरखपुर, लखीमपुर खीरी, कुशीनगर, पीलीभीत, संतकबीर नगर तथा सीतापुर के 875 गांव प्रभावित हैं।
राहत के लिए एनडीआरएफ, एसडीआरएफ, और पीएसी की कुल 22 टीमें तैनात की गयी हैं। चौकियां बनायी गयी हैं।

Former India opener Chetan Chauhan who played 40 Tests for India, was 73 and is survived by his wife and son Vinayak, who is scheduled to arrive from Melbourne later in the day.
Chauhan, who was Sunil Gavaskar’s longest serving opening partner, was admitted to Sanjay Gandhi PGI in Lucknow on July 12 after being found COVID-19 positive.
Due to kidney related ailments, his health deteriorated and he was shifted to Medanta hospital in Gurugram.
On friday night, he had a multi-organ failure and was put on ventilator support.
