Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh has advised owners of sweet shops and other shops in the state to provide free masks to customers on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan.
The appeal comes four days after the Chief Minister had announced that the sweet shops will be allowed to remain open on August 2, a day before the Raksha Bandhan festival, despite the Sunday lockdown in place in the state.
The Chief Minister has recently directed the Health Department to install mask vending machines at bus stands and other strategic points. In addition, free masks are being distributed to the poor along with their ration kit

6355 personnel withdrawnfrom non-core duties to create COVID Reserves and reinforce its field force at police stations and in the Armed Battalions.
While 202 COVID Reserves have been created in police stations across districts, another 20 have been constituted in the Armed Battalions, to improve operational readiness for enforcement of the various safety norms and protocols in place in the state.
Disclosing this during the Covid review Video Conference (VC) meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, the DGP said, post the exercise, an additional 1800 police personnel have been mobilised at the police stations, across the ranks of Constable to Inspector.

Extensive sampling and contact tracing has brought to fore twenty one new COVID-19 positive cases, informed Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan.
The total Cases in the district crosses five hundred mark with total 513 cases and the active being 185. The number of patients who have recovered is 318 and there have been 10 deaths.
DC said “Taking no chances in view of recent spike in cases, the rate of sampling has been intensified and extensive contact tracing is afoot so that spread of infection may be curtailed,”
There was an unfortunate death of one 43 year male, resident of Preet Colony, Zirakpur. He was suffering from Blood sugar. He died at GMCH, sector 32, Chandigarh.
Eight patients were discharged including 69 M sector 97, Mohali, 35 M phase 4, 15 F Kurali, 40 M Sector 78 Mohali, 25 M Phase 3 Mohali, 34 M, 58 F and 38 M Kharar.

SAS Nagar registers 16 positive cases coupled with the relief that almost every surge is accompanied sizeable recoveries, informed Girish Dayalan Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar adding that seven people recovered from the infection on Thursday.
The total occurrence of cases in the district in the past three and half months has been 472 while 294 which amounts to nearly 63 percent have recuperated. The active cases being nearly 35 percent ie 169. Also, the district has encountered 9 fatalities taking the COVID-19 mortality rate in the district to about 1.91 percent.

घूरेराम के पुत्र संतोष कुमार के अनुसार बृहस्पतिवार तड़के चार बजे उनके पिता का लखनऊ की किंगजार्ज मेडिकल यूनिवर्सिटी में निधन हो गया । वह 63 वर्ष के थे ।
14 जुलाई की देर रात्रि कफ व सांस लेने में दिक्कत के बाद अस्पताल में भर्ती कराया गया था।बुधवार को उनकी मेडिकल जांच की रिपोर्ट आयी, जिसमें उनके कोविड-19 से पीड़ित होने की पुष्टि हुई।

Punjab cabinet minister Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Tuesday, the first minister in the state to contract the infection, a health official said.
The Rural Development and Panchayats minister had undergone a COVID-19 last Friday after his department’s director tested positive for the disease.
The samples of Bajwa, who is also the higher education minister, were collected for the second time after the first report had come negative on Saturday.
“He (Bajwa) has tested positive for coronavirus,” Health Department Director Avneet Kaur said here. “His samples were collected again on Tuesday and his report confirmed him to be positive.

महानिदेशक पुलिस अपराध श्री एम.एल.लाठर के अनुसार निषेधाज्ञा तथा क्वारंटाईन मापदण्डों का उल्लघंन करने पर 3 हजार 495 एफआईआर दर्ज कर अब तक करीब 7 हजार 292 व्यक्तियों को गिरफ्तार किया गया। निषेधाज्ञा व एमवी एक्ट के तहत चालान कर 6 लाख 11 हजार वाहनों का चालान एवं एक लाख 50 हजार वाहनों को जब्त किया गया एवं करीब 10 करोड़ 47 लाख रुपये से अधिक जुर्माना वसूल किया जा चुका है।
प्रदेश में 22 हजार व्यक्तियों को सीआरपीसी के प्रावधानों के तहत शांति भंग के आरोप में गिरफ्तार किया गया। सोशल मीडिया के दुरुपयोग के मामले में राजस्थान पुलिस की टीम लगातार नजर बनाए हुए है। पुलिस ने सोशल मीडिया के दुरुपयोग के मामलों में अब तक 217 मुकदमे दर्ज कर 299 असामाजिक तत्वों के खिलाफ अभियोग दर्ज किया है एवं 226 को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
महानिदेशक पुलिस अपराध ने बताया कि कालाबजारी करने वाले लोगो पर भी पुलिस की पैनी नजर है। लॉक डाउन के दौरान काला बाजारी करते पाये गये दुकानदारों के विरुद्ध आवश्यक वस्तु अधिनियम के तहत 139 मुकदमे दर्ज कर कार्रवाई की जा रही है एवं 95 को गिरफ्तार किया गया है।
वर्तमान में रात्रि 10 बजे से प्रातः 5 बजे तक सभी गतिविधियों निषिद्ध है।

Going strict on enforcement of safety protocols, DC Mohali Girish Dayavan said “No loitering what-so-ever would be permitted; safety protocol enforcement teams would not just issue a warning or challan violators but would register FIRs for non-compliance to directions issued by State Government.”
Girish Dayalan informed that the district has registered 21 COVID positive cases on Tuesday while two patients recovered and another two with co-morbidities succumbed to infection.
Amongst the two deceased were a 48years Male from Jawaharpur who was admitted in PGI since 9/7/2020 and a 65years Male from New Chandigarh who was admitted in PGI since 5/7/2020. Notably, both were with co morbidity.
As of now, total cases reported in the district are 444 with 158 active cases and 279 have been discharged while 9 expired.

District Administration is deliberating over imposing stricter weekend restrictions,
Directing the entire safety protocol enforcement team including the officers of Municipal Corporation Mohali, Executive Officers of Municipal Councils as well as the Sub-Divisional Magistrates to activate teams for stricter enforcing of social distancing and wearing of masks in critical crowding locations such as market areas, malls, restaurants/eateries, public offices, banks, etc. with immediate effect,
Ruling out the feeling that safety protocol enforcement is lax in Mohali, Girish Dayalan said that “the cases that have surfaced are not due to people coming on their own to flu centres/hospitals for checking; rather administration is going for extensive sampling of target groups( contacts of active cases, travel history) which has led to surfacing of positive cases.” We have not lowered the guard and the situation is under control, said he.
He also informed that Federal Behda in Dera Bassi has been made the containment zone (over fifteen cases), village Majat charcoal factory and Peermuchalla is micro containment zone( more than five but less than fifteen) and Sector 66 Mohali is declared as the Cluster(more than two but less than fifteen cases).
