[New Delhi] Lok Sabha 2nd Time Witnesses Lack of Quorum.Majority Of MPs Remained Absent For the second time in a Week This issue of quorum cropped up in Lok Sabha tonight.
The issue of lack of quorum was raised by some Opposition members when BJP MP Bhagat Singh Koshiyari was raising the issue of closure of HMT company.
Congress member K C Venugopal said it was the job of the ruling party to ensure quorum in the House.
P Venugopal, who was in the Chair, halted the proceedings of the House and ordered ringing of the quorum bell.
Following this, MPs from both the opposition and the government came to the House mustering enough strength to run the proceedings.
Incidentally, this is the second time in a week when the issue of Quorum was raised in the Lok Sabha.
On March 2, Business in the Lok Sabha collapsed for want of quorum, leaving the discussion on Motion of Thanks to the President’s Address incomplete.
