Yet another alleged incident of sacrilege came to light today at Kalanaur area in Punjab, a state which was recently rocked by a series of protests over such cases.
A special investigation team has already been formed under the supervision of SP Satpal Singh Bhangu to probe the incident,
The incident came to the fore when two women Lakhwinder Kaur and Amarjit Kaur allegedly found torn pages of Sikh religious book (Gutka Sahib) on the Adalatpur road at about 5:30 am today during morning walk.
As people came to know about it, tension gripped the district.
Sikh agitators blocked the Batala-Kalanaur road to protest against the incident and to demand action against the culprits for the heinous act”
A case has been registered here and SIT has been formed to investigate the matter.
Punjab has recently been rocked by a series of protests over a number of desecration incidents taking place in the state starting with Bargari at Faridkot last month.
During one protest, two people were killed in clashes between agitationists and police.
Punjab government yesterday handed over to CBI the probe of the sacrilege incident at Faridkot and the subsequent killing of two persons in police firing
