The proposal for recruitment of orderlies ,to officers in Air Force and Navy, has again been Red Signaled but authorization of Sahayaks to officers and JCOs in the Army is still enjoying green signal .
Defence Minister Shri AK Antony in a written reply to Shri RudraMadhab Ray in Lok Sabha ,today. stated that there is no practice of appointment of orderlies to officers in Air Force and Navy.
However, Sahayaks are authorised to officers and JCOs in the Army as per their entitlement, while serving with formations functioning on war establishments.
Shri Antony informed that These Sahayaks are actually combatant soldiers who are entitled to regular pay, allowances and other benefits befitting to their rank in their hierarchy. As per recommendations of the Standing Committee on Defence, the system of Sahayaks in the Army has been taken up for review.
