[Madurai]Smuggled Gold @Rs10 Crores Seized From Two Airlines Including Spice jet
As per Custom Officials 40 kgs worth Rs ten crores of gold is seized at Madurai airport.
40 kgs of gold worth Rs ten crore have been seized at the airport and three persons taken into custody
Acting on a tip-off that gold could be smuggled on board a Mihin Lanka flight from Sri Lanka and Spice Jet flight from Dubai, Director of Customs (Tuticorin), Parivallal, heading a team, conducted searches in both the aircraft last night.
The officials said a suitcase containing gold biscuits, weighing 33 kgs, was found abandoned under a seat in the Madurai-bound plane from Colombo while seven kgs of gold were seized from three passengers in the other aircraft.
