Air Marshal Jasjit Singh Kler takes over as Director General (Inspection & Safety), Indian Air Force (IAF)
Air Marshal Jasjit Singh Kler VM was commissioned into the Helicopter stream of the IAF on 13 December 1980.
He was promoted to the rank of Air Marshal and assumed the appointment of Director General (Inspection & Safety) on 02 February 15.
The Air Marshal is a Qualified Flying Instructor. He has flown close to 8000 hrs on various helicopters, flying mostly in Siachen Glacier and Eastern Sector. He has flown most types of helicopters in the IAF inventory i.e. Cheetah, Chetak, Mi-8s, Mi-17s and the Mi-17 IVs.
The Air Marshal has held various command and staff appointments which include Senior Air and Admin Staff Officer (SAASO) of Maintenance Command, Deputy Commandant of Air Force Academy, Air Officer Commanding of Air Force Station New Delhi, Station Commander of Air Force Station Jammu, Air Force Station Salua and Command of a Mi-17 Helicopter Unit. He also was posted to Namibia to raise and train the Namibian Helicopter element. Prior to his present appointment, he was IG (Air), BSF Air Wing, MHA.
A third generation officer, he hails from Chandigarh. The Air Marshal is married to Jasjeet Kler and has two sons. He is an avid reader and a keen golfer.
