Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar today met the family of Garud Commando Gursewak Singh who was killed in Pathankot terror attack, promising a job to one member and a memorial for the slain soldier.
Khattar along with Health Minister Anil Vij, who represents Ambala Cantt assembly constituency, reached Gursewak’s native Garnala village here this morning.He expressed his condolence to the bereaved family.
The Chief Minister assured Gursewak’s father Sucha Singh that a job would be provided to any one member of the family.
He also said that a memorial would be set up.
Khattar said that Haryana and the entire country were proud of the “supreme sacrifice” by 25-year-old Gursewak.
He noted that Gursewak came from a family which has a tradition of making contribution to the defence forces as his elder brother Hardeep Singh is in the Army while father Sucha Singh too is an ex-serviceman.
Gursewak had married in November last year.

The Indian Air Force flagged off an all women cycle expedition from Air Force Station Pathankot, today
The Indian Air Force flagged off an all women cycle expedition team “Kshitij-Se-Pare” from Air Force Station, Pathankot, in Punjab
. The team led by Wing Commander Bhavna Mehra, consists of nine women officers from the Indian Air Force. The expedition from Pathankot to Leh covering a total distance of 1500 kms through one of the most treacherous terrain, at altitudes above 12000 ft with temperatures falling below freezing point and unpredicatble weather conditions would provide an opportunity for these women officers to nurture a spirit of adventure and camaraderie. The expedition planned to be completed in 29 days is divided into three segments, where the first two segments will be for acclimatisation and the third segment would involve a high altitude cycling climb.
‘Kshitij-Se-Pare’ expedition will bring out the passion for adventure, will, strength and is a tribute to the very essence of indomitable Air Force spirit. The expedition was flagged off by Air Commodore Ashok Shiragannavar, Air Officer Commanding, air Force station Pathankot.
