President Obama granted states competitive preference if they demonstrated efforts to close the STEM gap for girls and other groups that are underrepresented.
The President Obama began this tradition of hosting Science Fairs in 2009 when he launched his Educate to Innovate campaign to inspire more girls and boys to excel in STEM subjects. Christ’s Life Even After 2000 Years Is Still Inspiring Mankind:Barack Obama

, President Obama Began Annual Easter Prayer Holy Week .
Obama welcomed religious leaders to the White House for the fifth-annual Easter prayer breakfast, marking the beginning of Holy Week. Obama also bowed his head as Pastor Joel Hunter gave the opening prayer during the Easter Prayer Breakfast in the East Room of the White House,On April 14, 2014.
At the start of his remarks, the President took a moment to reflect on yesterday’s tragic shootings at two Jewish facilities — a community center and a retirement home — in Kansas. As he said today, “nobody should have to worry about their security when gathering with their fellow believers. No one should ever have to fear for their safety when they go to pray.”
Obama Said” As Americans, we not only need to open our hearts to the families of the victims; we’ve got to stand united against this kind of terrible violence, which has no place in our society. And we have to keep coming together across faiths to combat the ignorance and intolerance, including anti-Semitism”, that can lead to hatred and to violence, because we’re all children of God.
The President added that more than 2,000 years after Christ walked the earth, His life continues to inspire us. “We are drawn to His timeless teachings,” he said, “challenged to be worthy of His sacrifice, to emulate as best we can His eternal example to love one another just as He loves us.”

Barack Obama Observes A Moment of Silence for Victims Of Boston Marathon Bombing

President Obama observes a moment of silence to mark the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing.
The President “Says A year ago, tragedy struck at the 117th Boston Marathon. Four innocent people were killed that week, and hundreds more were wounded. Today, we remember Krystle Campbell, Lingzi Lu, Martin Richard, and Sean Collier. And we send our thoughts and prayers to those still struggling to recover. We also know that the most vivid images from that day were not of smoke and chaos, but of compassion, kindness and strength: A man in a cowboy hat helping a wounded stranger out of harm’s way; runners embracing loved ones, and each other; an EMT carrying a spectator to safety. Today, we recognize the incredible courage and leadership of so many Bostonians in the wake of unspeakable tragedy. And we offer our deepest gratitude to the courageous firefighters, police officers, medical professionals, runners and spectators who, in an instant, displayed the spirit Boston was built on — perseverance, freedom and love”

Barack Obama Tears House Republicans For blocking Paycheck Fairness Act

American President Barack Obama Again underscored the importance of ensuring equal pay for equal work and highlighted the steps his Administration has taken to expand opportunity and narrow the pay gap that exists between men and women.
In this week’s address, the President highlighted the action taken to increase transparency and make it easier to recognize pay discrimination.
President said that Women make up half of America’s workforce, and are increasingly the primary-breadwinners in American families. Ensuring that women are paid fairly is a commonsense step to grow our economy. That is why the President again called on Republicans in Congress to support the Paycheck Fairness Act and stop blocking progress that would benefit women – because when women succeed, America succeeds.
Earlier this week was Equal Pay Day. It marks the extra time the average woman has to work into a new year to earn what a man earned the year before. You see, the average woman who works full-time in America earns less than a man – even when she’s in the same profession and has the same education.
Obama Called it wrong + an embarrassment. He Said Women deserve equal pay for equal work.
Obama Said”This is an economic issue that affects all of us. Women make up about half our workforce. And more and more, they’re our families’ main breadwinners. So it’s good for everyone when women are paid fairly. That’s why, this week, I took action to prohibit more businesses from punishing workers who discuss their salaries – because more pay transparency makes it easier to spot pay discrimination. And I hope more business leaders will take up this cause.
But equal pay is just one part of an economic agenda for women.
Most lower-wage workers in America are women. So I’ve taken executive action to require federal contractors to pay their federally-funded employees at least ten dollars and ten cents an hour. I ordered a review of our nation’s overtime rules, to give more workers the chance to earn the overtime pay they deserve. Here’s the problem, Republicans in Congress have blocked progress at every turn. Just this week, Senate Republicans blocked the Paycheck Fairness Act, commonsense legislation that would help more women win equal pay for equal work. House Republicans won’t vote to raise the minimum wage or extend unemployment insurance for women out of work through no fault of their own. The budget they passed this week would force deep cuts to investments that overwhelmingly benefit women and children – like Medicaid, food stamps, and college grants. And of course, they’re trying to repeal the Affordable Care Act for the fiftieth or so time, which would take away vital benefits and protections from millions of women.
I’m going to keep fighting to make sure that doesn’t happen. Because we do better when our economy grows for everybody, not just a few. And when women succeed, America succeeds”.

After 50 Years American President Again Signed To Combat Gender Based Pay Discrimination

After 50 Years American President Signed Document For The Equal Pay Day Saying “It’s Nice to Have a Day, But It’s Even Better to Have Equal Pay”
Fifty years ago, President Kennedy signed the Equal Pay Act into law to combat gender-based wage discrimination, and in the decades since, women have made extraordinary progress. But there is still a great amount of work that needs to be done. Women still make just 77 cents on average for every dollar a man earns, and continue to face prejudice in the workplace. And that number hasn’t improved — the pay gap has stayed constant since 2002.
That’s why today, on Equal Pay Day, President Barack Obama signed an Executive Order and a Presidential Memorandum to help combat pay discrimination and strengthen the enforcement of equal pay laws.

Barack Obama Reiterated His Call for Equal Pay for Equal Work

President Barack Obama ,While Ensuring Rewards For Women’s Hard Work, Reiterated His Call for Equal Pay for Equal Work .
In This week’s address,President Obama highlighted the importance of making sure economy rewards the hard work of every American – including America’s women. This would benefit nearly 28 million Americans.
The President reiterated his call for Congress to ensure that women earn equal pay for equal work and increase the minimum wage to $10.10, which would give nearly 28 million Americans the raise they deserve.
He underscored his belief that providing opportunity for working women and families is the right thing to do for economy, because when women succeed, America succeeds.
Obama Said”Now, the good news is that in the year since I first called on Congress to raise the minimum wage, six states have passed laws to raise theirs. More states, counties, and cities are working to raise their minimum wages as we speak. Small businesses like St. Louis-based Pi Pizzeria, are raising their wages too – not out of charity, but because it’s good for business. And by the way, Pi makes a really good pizza. And in this year of action, I signed an executive order requiring federal contractors to pay their employees a fair wage of at least ten dollars and ten cents an hour”

Each veteran honored had already received the Distinguished Service Cross – the nation’s second-highest military award – but 19 of them were previously overlooked for the Medal of Honor due to their racial or ethnic backgrounds.
This ceremony follows a 12-year Pentagon review, ordered by Congress, of past discrimination in the military.
“No nation is perfect,” the President said at today’s ceremony. “But here in America, we confront our imperfections and face a sometimes painful past, including the truth that some of these soldiers fought and died for a country that did not always see them as equal.”
