Broadband internet services were today suspended across Kashmir, except some areas housing government offices and residences of officials, while mobile internet services remained suspended in the valley for the 36th consecutive day.
The broadband services were snapped around 4.30 pm without any reason being assigned for it.
However, the services were restored after half an hour in Bemina+Lal Chowk+ Sonawar areas of the city –
– where most of the government offices and official residences of government officials are located.
The mobile internet services were snapped across Kashmir last month as a precautionary measure to prevent rumour mongering following violent clashes in the wake of killing of Hibzul Mujahideen commander Burhan on July 8 in an encounter with security forces

जुम्मे की नमाज में जुटने वाली भारी भीड़ को ध्यान में रखते हुए प्रशासन ने ताजा हिंसा की आशंका के मद्देनजर कश्मीर में आज कफ्र्यू लगा दिया।
पिछले सप्ताह हिज्बुल मुजाहिदीन के आतंकी बुरहान वानी की मौत के बाद हुई झड़पों में 36 लोग मारे जा चुके हैं और 3100 से ज्यादा लोग घायल हो चुके हैं।
पुलिस के एक अधिकारी के अनुसार ‘‘कानून-व्यवस्था बनाए रखने के लिए ऐहतिहाती कदम के तहत कश्मीर घाटी के सभी 10 जिलों में कफ्र्यू लगा दिया गया है।’’
बीते शनिवार से कश्मीर में जनजीवन अस्त-व्यस्त है और एक बेचैन करने वाली चुप्पी यहां पसरी हुई है। हालांकि कश्मीर के किसी भी हिस्से से कल किसी बड़ी झड़प की खबर नहीं आई थी।
कफ्र्यू लगाने का फैसला इसलिए लिया गया क्योंकि इस बात की आशंका है कि जुम्मे की नमाज के लिए बड़ी संख्या में जुटे लोगों का कुछ निहित स्वार्थ के तहत ताजा हिंसा भड़काने के लिए फायदा उठाया जा सकता है।
अधिकारी ने कहा कि पुलिस और अर्धसैन्य बलों के जवानों को बड़ी संख्या में घाटी में तैनात किया गया है ताकि निषेधाज्ञा का सख्ती के साथ पालन हो।
अफवाहों को फैलने से रोकने के लिए प्रशासन ने मोबाइल टेलीफोन सेवाओं को फिलहाल निलंबित कर दिया है।
अधिकारी ने कहा, ‘‘सिर्फ बीएसएनएल के पोस्टपेड कनेक्शन ही काम कर रहे हैं।
