Earlier Govt Earned Resentments From Opposition and Environmentalists By Calling National Bird Peacock+State Animal a Vermin .Even though Govt has taken U Turn On This Issue But Now Taken Another Unpopular Issue Of Transport Which May Create Transporters Stir In The State
Goa Government has issued directives that all buses, including those of state-run Kadamba Transport Corporation Limited (KTCL), which are more than 15 years old should be scrapped in a phased manner Director of Transport Sunil Masurkar issued the direction, aimed to do away with private and KTCL buses which are running for over 15 years.
Such Buses should be replaced by March 2021.
The 20-year-old and above buses should be replaced by March 31 next year.
Those running for 18 years and above will have to be replaced by March 31, 2018,
while those over 17 years old will be scrapped by 2019 March end.

A day after a controversy erupted over the proposed listing of peacock as a vermin, Goa Chief Minister Laxmikant Parsekar today ruled out including the national bird in the list of nuisance animals.
“I don t think it is included. It cannot be included in the list. It is a national bird,” Parsekar told PTI today reacting to the issue.
He said though there are complaints of large-scale peacock menace in some rural areas, the bird comes only to eat grains after the harvesting.
“It does not damage the crop.
Agriculture Minister Ramesh Tawadkar yesterday had stoked a controversy after he announced that Peacock was included in the list as nuisance animals.
The decision had evoked sharp criticism with Congress terming it as “suicidal” and harmful for ecology.
