Civil Aviation Minister Mahesh Sharma directed to provide all basic facilities to the passengers At Kolkata Airport
The minister also took a round of the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International airport to take stock of the passenger amenities including the upkeep of toilets among others, an official release said today.
This Airport is in the process of privatisation.
The airport handles 120 domestic and international flights per day and despite all odds has generated a surplus of Rs 326 crore in the last five years,
The Minister asked the authorities to ensure basic facilities for tourists at the Airport.

This incident comes barely a month after Similar case of journalist Jagendra Singh in Shahjahanpur district
The mother of a journalist, who had accused police officials of setting her ablaze at a police station after she refused to give bribe to free her husband, today succumbed to injuries following which a magisterial inquiry was ordered into the incident.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav said stern action will be taken against those found guilty in the report.
SP, Barabanki, Abdul Hamid said that the woman admitted to a Lucknow hospital died this morning during treatment.
Though police maintained that the middle-aged woman tried to commit suicide by immolating herself at Kothi Police Station alleging “humiliation and abuse” by police, the victim had charged the police station in-charge and sub-inspector with torching her when she refused to give Rs one lakh for the release of her husband.
The woman, whose son is associated with a local Hindi daily, had said in a statement before a magistrate and the media that she was allegedly abused and humiliated when she refused to meet the demand of Rs one lakh for freeing her husband.
Speaking to reporters after the cabinet meeting, the Chief Minister said, “A magisterial inquiry has been ordered and stern action will be taken against those found guilty in the report”.
The SP has suspended both the policemen against whom cases have been lodged under various sections of the IPC.
Police said Ram Narain was brought to the police station on Saturday night for questioning in connection with firing over an incident of harassment of a girl in Gaha village.
The incident comes barely a month after journalist Jagendra Singh was set on fire allegedly by some UP policemen in Shahjahanpur district.
Singh’s family had lodged a complaint with the police against UP minister Ram Murti Verma and five others, including policemen, at Puwayan Police Station.

Bollywood Star Nana Patekar agrees that he fights with everyone, but maintains that he has no enemies.
Patekar, 64, who will be seen next in Anees Bazmee’s “Welcome Back”, said he even fought with the director but their arguments did not last for long.
“I had fights and arguments with Anees Bazmee but it doesn’t last longer. Anees is a good director. It was nice, amazing experience working with him.
“I fight with everyone but I don’t have any enemies. There is no enmity with anyone,” Patekar told reporters here at the trailer launch of the film.
The “Ab Tak Chhappan” star said Bazmee provides script to his actors at the very last moment.
The comedy drama, a sequel to the 2007 hit “Welcome”, also stars Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, Shruti Haasan, Naseeruddin Shah and Dimple Kapadia.
When Anil was asked if it is true that Patekar is short-tempered, the Marathi star interrupted and said, “We just had a fight ten minutes back on how to present this event.”
But Anil is all praise for him.

[वाशिंगटन] फूलों के राजा गुलाब की मदमस्त कर देने वाली खुशबू का राज अब राज नही रहा |सदियों से इसकी पंखुडियों में छुपी भीनी भीनी खुशबू के राज से अब परदा उठ गया है । वैज्ञानिकों ने उस एन्जाइम का पता लगा लिया है जो गुलाब के फूलों की भीनी भीनी खुशबू पैदा करने में अहम भूमिका निभाता है। इस एन्जाइम के बारे में पता लगने से अब गुलाब की विभिन्न किस्मों की गायब हो रही खुशबू फिर से लौटाने में मदद मिल सकती है।
अनुसंधानकर्ताओं ने बताया कि इत्र + सौंदर्य प्रसाधनों के लिए आवश्यक तेल मुहैया करने वाले गुलाब को उसकी खूबसूरती और मोहक खुशबू के लिए उगाया जाता है लेकिन समय के साथ इसकी खुशबू गायब होती जा रही है।
गुलाब की पुरानी खुशबू को वापस लाने के लिए उसकी महक के जैव संश्लेषण मार्ग की बेहतर समझ की आवश्यकता होगी।
गुलाब की खुशबू के संबंध में अभी तक किए गए अध्ययन के अनुसार कुछ वैज्ञानिकों का यह दावा है कि टेरपीन सिंथेसिस एन्जाइम एकमात्र ऐसा माध्यम है जो पौधों में सुगंधित मोनोटरपीन्स पैदा करता है।
हालांकि फ्रांस स्थित द यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ ल्योन सेंट एटीने के जीन लुइस मैगनार्ड और उनके साथियों ने निश्चित वांछनीय विशेषताओं के लिए चयनित गुलाब की दो किस्मों के जीन की जांच करने पर पाया गया कि फूलों की सुगंध का कारण कोई एक दम अलग अप्रत्याशित एन्जाइम का परिवार है।
अनुसंधानकर्ताओं ने गुलाब की तेज खुशबू वाली पापा मीलांद किस्म और कम खूशबू वाली रोग मिलांद किस्म के ट्रांस्क्रिप्टोम्स की तुलना की ताकि उनके आनुवांशिक अंतर का पता लगाया जा सके।

A complaint has been filed against External Affairs Minister Smt Sushma Swaraj, Rajasthan Chief Minister Smt Vasundhre Raje and IPL Tainted Mughal Lalit K Modi in a district court
Vinay Kumar Singh, chief of NGO “Friends of Bihari”, filed the complaint in the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Bharat Singh yesterday.
But, the complainant did not turn up in the court today in the hearing for admission of the case.
The court would fix a future date to give another chance to the complainant to plead his matter to decide whether it could be admitted in the court or not.
The complaint was lodged under IPC sections 120, 124 and Information Technology Act 2000.
Referring to media reports, the complainant alleged that Lalit Modi through Twitter has tried to destabilise the country by dropping names of one leader after another in connection with some wrong practice.
He prayed to the court to direct Kadam Kuan police station in the capital to register a case against Swaraj, Raje and Lalit Modi and probe the matter.

Women candidates have bagged all the three top slots in the prestigious Civil Services examination to select IAS and IPS officers among others.

has topped the examination followed by
[2]Renu Raj + [3]Nidhi Gupta,
who have secured second and third positions respectively, according to the results announced by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) today.
Ira and Nidhi, who hail from Delhi, are Indian Revenue Service (Customs and Central Excise) officers whereas, Renu Raj is a doctor by profession. She hails from Kerala.
As Per PTI Ira topped the exam in general category despite being physically handicapped. “I want to be an IAS officer. I want to do something for the benefit of physically-handicapped people,” she said.
Renu Raj got the second rank in her first attempt.
Renu Raj, who works in a hospital in Kollam in Kerala, hails from Kottayam.
Third rank holder Nidhi said it is a proud moment for her to get selected in the examination. Nidhi is presently Assistant Commissioner of Customs and Central Excise.
