Minister of State for Home Hansraj Gangaram Ahir, while replying to questions, said 2927 people had died due to consumption of illicit/spurious liquor between 2012 and 2014.
Of these, 731 died in 2012,
497 in 2013 and
1699 in 2014.
The central government can help states but it has no plans so far for a national level prohibition on liquor,
Ahir said a total of
2.83 crore litres of liquor was seized in 2014 under the Excise Act, which included over
91 lakh liters of ‘desi’ or country-made liquor.
Similarly, 1.15 crore litres of factory-made and over
76 lakh litres of “other” liquor was seized in the same year.
Till June this year, various enforcement agencies had seized
1366.35 kg of amphetamine,
6.51 kg of cocaine,
44,811.82 kg of ephedrine,
38,418.89 kg of ganja,
1,144.12 kg of hashish,
351.12 kg of heroin,
16.57 kg of ketamine,
663.15 kg of opium,
205150 bottles of cough syrup phensidyle,
12,903.41 kg of poppy husk, 34,018.34 kg of poppy straw and 43.74 kg of pseudo-ephedrine

Police has booked AAP MLA from Delhi Cantonment Surinder Singh on the charge of cheating after he was accused of getting a job as a government teacher on the basis of a fake graduation degree.
Acting on the complaint of BJP leader Karan Singh Tanwar, a former MLA from Delhi Cantonment, the Jhajjar police booked him.
Police today said Tanwar had moved a complaint before Jhajjar SP seeking registration of a case against the legislator after accusing him of getting the job on the basis of a forged graduation degree.
Reacting to the development, AAP leader from Haryana Naveen Jaihind charged it was being done at the behest of the ruling BJP and an atmosphere is being created to “browbeat our MLAs”.
The complaint against Surinder Singh is that he was employed as teacher in a government school in Jhajjar, a job which he is alleged to have got on the basis of a forged graduation degree.
The AAP claimed that “Delhi police had given him clean chit earlier when similar charge was levelled against him”.
So far, 12 AAP MLAs were arrested by the Delhi Police and their Punjab counterpart in various cases since the party came to power in Delhi for a second time in February last year.

. Surjit Kumar Jayani health and Family Welfare Minister Punjab said that there was no shortage of medicines especially the life-saving drugs and injections in the government hospitals.
The Minister denied that there was any scarcity of Injection Mannitol in the government hospitals, as reported.
He said that which this being a life-saving drug, mainly used for head injury patients but its consumption is less.
He clarified that the Punjab government has adequate stock of the injection and state has already has a Sale Contractor for this medicine.
Minister has directed the Director Health Dr. H.S.Bali to allot the district wise work to ensure proper upkeep of the government health institutions and keep a close watch on the hygienic conditions besides ensuring the availability of all the essential drugs.
Minister warned that those who defy the directive would be punished.
He said the government was committed to provide cheap medical treatment.
The Minister also said that the government was already in the process of breaking the nexus of drug manufacturers, doctors and private chemists, wherein doctors prescribed particular branded medicines in lieu of freebies offered by pharmaceutical firms.

युवा एवं खेल मामलों के मंत्री विजय गोयल ने आज उच्च सदन में यह घोषणा की। उन्होंने कहा कि राष्ट्रीय डोपिंग रोधी एजेंसी :नाडा: ने 74किग्रा वर्ग के पहलवान नरसिंह यादव को डोपिंग के आरोपों से बरी कर दिया है।
उन्होंने कहा कि नाडा ने माना है कि इस मामले में नरसिंह यादव साजिश का शिकार हुआ है।
गोयल की इस घोषणा का सदस्यों ने मेजें थपथपाकर स्वागत किया। उपसभापति पी जे कुरियन ने भी इसे सुखद समाचार बताते हुए इसका स्वागत किया।
उल्लेखनीय है कि नाडा द्वारा नरसिंह को डोपिंग प्रकरण से बरी कर देने से उनका रियो ओलंपिक जाने का रास्ता साफ हो गया है।
इससे पहले परीक्षण में नरसिंह को प्रतिबंधित पदार्थ मिथानाडाइनोन का पाजीटिव पाया गया था जिसके बाद इस पहलवान ने दावा किया था कि उसके खिलाफ साजिश की गयी है।

The Government has enacted “Un organised Workers’ Social Security Act, 2008” for the welfare of un organised workers and the Rag Pickers are covered there under. The Act provides for formulation of suitable welfare schemes for unorganised workers on matters relating to:
(i) life and disability cover,
(ii) health and maternity benefits,
(iii) old age protection and
(iv) any other benefit as may be determined by the Central Government through the National Social Security Board. Various Schemes, formulated by the Government to provide social security cover to the unorganized workers, listed in the Schedule I of the above Act are as under:
i.Indira Gandhi National Old Age Pension Scheme. (Ministry of Rural Development)
ii.National Family Benefit Scheme. (Ministry of Rural Development)
iii.Janani Suraksha Yojana. (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare)
iv.Handloom Weavers’ Comprehensive Welfare Scheme. (Ministry of Textiles)
v.Handicraft Artisans’ Comprehensive Welfare Scheme. (Ministry of Textiles)
vi.Pension to Master Craft Persons. (Ministry of Textiles)
vii.National Scheme for Welfare of Fishermen and Training and Extension. (Department of Animal Husbandry, Dairying & Fisheries)
viii.Aam Aadmi Bima Yojana. (Department of Financial Services).
ix.Rashtriya Swasthya Bima Yojana. (Ministry of Health and Family Welfare)
In addition to the above, the Rag Pickers have also been extended scholarship benefits under the scheme namely “Pre-matric scholarship for children of those engaged in occupations involving cleaning and prone to health hazards”.
Under the Scheme there is a provision of scholarship of Rs. 750/- per annum to the students who are day scholars studying in classes I to X and Rs. 1000/- per annum to hostellers studying in classes III to X.
The Act also enjoins upon State Governments to formulate schemes relating to
(a) provident fund;
(b) employment injury benefits;
(c) housing;
(d) educational schemes for children;
(e) skill upgradation of workers;
(f) funeral assistance; and
(g) old age homes.

बीते एक सप्ताह से यहां दवाओं की तो छोड़िये डाक्टरों का अकाल पड़ा हुआ है |गंभीर रोगों से ग्रसित मरीजों को उनके ईस्टदेव के भरोसे छोड़ा गया है|ऐसे ही एक मरीज संजय[५०] को एमरजेंसी में भर्ती कराया गया था |शुगर के मरीज के पैरों में गंगेरियन बता कर उसके इलाज से किनारा कर लिया गया |इसके लिए चिकित्सकों+सुविधाओं+के आभाव का रोना रोया गया |सीनियर डॉक्टर्स कीक्या कहें जूनियर डॉक्टर्स भी मरीजों के पट्टी तक करवाने के लिए उपलब्ध नहीं हुए |इसी उपेक्षा के चलते मरीज को हार्ट अटैक आ गया इस पर भी इलाज करने के बजाय तुरंत फुरंत मरीज को दिल्ली के लिए रेफेर कर दिया गया |जीवन रक्षक उपकरणों से लेस एम्बुलेंस तक मुहैय्या नहीं करवाई गए |निर्धन आय वर्ग से सम्बंधित मरीज के रिश्तेदारों ने ही प्राईवेट एम्बुलेंस की व्यवस्था करके मरीज को दिल्ली भेजा जहां वह मरीज अपनी मृत्यु की प्रतीक्षा को मजबूर है| मरीज ना तो दलित है और नाही उसका समुदाय अल्पसंख्यक है |शायद यही उसका दोष है|

Crime Branch busted a huge racket of insurance fraud that was running under the garb of holiday package services in the name and style of ‘Davis Value Card Private Limited’ and arrested Sumit Verma(32 yrs) of Supertech Pavilion, Sector-34, Noida, UP,
He is one of the directors ofcompany ‘Davis Value Card Private Limited’
The accused persons have cheated many innocent people all over India on the pretext of providing huge amount of bonus/additional growth on investment pertaining to insurance policies of the victims.
The accused persons were operating from their companies in Noida and received the cheated amount in company accounts.
Complainant Atam Prakash Wadhwa r/oMansarovar Garden, Delhi, a retired govt. employee and a senior citizen aged above 80 years had moved a complaint therein alleging that he had received some phone calls wherein the caller informed him that he was entitled to bonus/additional growth on his LIC policies. The alleged callers kept calling the complainant and induced him to deposit money in their company bank accounts. As per their directions, complainant invested money in companies ‘Davis Value CardPvt. Ltd’. and ‘Dreamland Developers’. The amounts were deposited by the complainant through cheques to several bank accounts of the alleged companies but the alleged companies did not pay any bonus/good returns to the complainant.The alleged persons even tried to extract more money from him. During investigation, it was found that the complainanthad paid approx. Rs.77 lac to the alleged companies through cheques from his bank accounts.
As per Joint Comissioner Ravindra Yadav ,the team conducted a raid on the intervening night of 21/22.7.2016 at Supertech Pavilion, Sector-34,Noida and the accused Sumit Verma, director of alleged company ‘Davis ValueCard Private Limited‘ was apprehended. The accused had purchased a premium flatin the above stated society and a luxury Audi Q3 SUV with his share of the cheated amount.
Other co-accused (directors of the alleged companies) are still at large and efforts are being made to nab them.
As per police ,following items are recovered
1. OneAudi Q3 car.
2. Two cheque books.
3. Other incriminating documents.
