[Mumbai] Veteran Bollywood Actor Dilip Kumar Hospitalized
He was honoured with the Dadasaheb Phalke award in 1994 and the Padma Vibhushan in 2015.
Veteran actor Dilip Kumar has been admitted to a hospital after suffering from swelling in his leg.
Kumar, 93, was rushed to the Lilavati hospital in suburban Bandra, yesterday in the morning hours.
The veteran actor will be turning 94 on December 11 and Saira hopes he is back home by then.
Earlier, Kumar was admitted to Lilavati hospital for a few days in April this year following respiratory problems.
During his six-decade long career the legendary actor, whose real name is Mohammad Yusuf Khan, has acted in many superhit films like
“Madhumati”,
“Devdas”, ”
Mughal-e-Azam”,
“Ganga Jamuna”,
“Ram Aur Shyam”
“Gopi”
“Sagina”
and “Karma”.
He was last seen on-screen in the film “Qila” in 1998.

Senior Most Judge J S Khehar to be 1st Sikh Chief Justice of India
[New Delhi] Justice J S Khehar to be the 44th Chief Justice of India
Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar, who led the five-judge constitution bench in the Supreme Court which had struck down the controversial NJAC Act for appointment of judges, was today recommended as the 44th Chief Justice of India.
Chief Justice of India T S Thakur today wrote a letter recommending the name of Justice Khehar, who is the senior most judge of the Supreme Court to be his successor.
Justice Khehar, 64, will be the first Chief Justice from the Sikh community and he will succeed CJI Thakur who will be demitting office on January 3, 2017.
Justice Khehar, who will be sworn in on January 4, will hold the tenure for over seven months till August 27, 2017.
Besides heading the bench in NJAC matter, Justice Khehar has also headed a bench which had set aside the imposition of President’s Rule in Arunachal Pradesh in January this year.
He was also a part of the bench which sent Sahara chief Subrata Roy to jail while hearing the matter relating to the refund of money invested by people in his two companies.
Justice Khehar also headed a bench which recently gave a significant verdict holding that the principal of ‘equal pay for equal work’ has to be made applicable to those engaged as daily wagers, casual and contractual employees who perform the same duties as the regulars.
While the turf war between the judiciary and the executive over the appointment of judges for higher judiciary has intensified, Justice Khehar on the occasion of Constitution Day on November 26 had responded to the tirade from Attorney General Mukul Rohatgi by saying that the judiciary was working within its “lakshmanrekha”.

Fondly addressed as Cho, he was suffering from illness and breathed his last at a private hospital this morning, sources close to his family said.
He is survived by wife, son and daughter.
Ramaswamy was founder editor of Thuqlaq magazine and was known as a satirist.
He had acted in many movies and featured with top actors like Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan.

A group of people today blocked a road in Khassa village near the Indo-Pak border and briefly stopped the Amritsar-Lahore bus.
The bus, without any passenger on board, was going from Amritsar to Lahore.

One97 Communications, the firm that owns Paytm, is restructuring its business ahead of the launch of its Payments Bank, merging the wallet business with payments bank operation.
Company claims increase of 35 mn online recharges after demonetisation
As per Paytm spokesperson.”It is transfer of business. Wallet business will move to payments bank while One97 will be managing the sales part for the wallet business. The transfer will be complete once payment bank licence is obtained,”
The company had incorporated Paytm E-commerce and Paytm Payments Bank as separate companies earlier this year.
Reserve Bank of India had awarded `in-principle’ approval to Vijay Shekhar Sharma, the founder of One97 Communications, to set up a Payments Bank.
Paytm Payments Bank is in the process of obtaining the final licence from the RBI and would commence its operations after obtaining due approvals, the spokesperson added.
Sharma will hold the majority share in the new Payments Bank entity, with the rest being held by One97 Communications.
Alibaba Group and its affiliate Ant Financial pumped in USD 680 million into Paytm’s parent One97 Communications last year, taking its total shareholding to over 40 per cent in the country’s largest mobile wallet operator Paytm with close to 160 million customers. However, the Chinese entity will not have a direct shareholding in the payments bank.
Paytm has not given a fresh timeline for the launch of its payment bank services, which was earlier slated to begin operations around Diwali.
Later, three entities — Tech Mahindra, Cholamandalam Investment and Finance Company and a consortium of Dilip Shanghvi, IDFC Bank and Telenor Financial Services — backed out of the payments bank licensing.
Last month, Airtel became the first payments bank to go live in the country when it rolled out a pilot of its banking services in Rajasthan.
